Refinishing Work Rims: Aluminum Oxidation
Lets start off with what we are working with:
Work VS SD-2s Shipped and got in horrible condition. ![]() ![]() I want to do a Brush Aluminum Finish so after doing some research i started taking the clear coat off. and wet sanded just to see what i could get them to look like. ![]() Not what i was after. Took them apart and went at them with some 100g sand paper Followed by a scotch brite pad. ![]() Getting there> ![]() ![]() ![]() On the left: Sanded/scotch Brite Right: Clear removed and not sanded ![]() NOW heres my question. I have oxidation from what i think was the clear coat. How do i get this off? im thinking of just soda blasting them all then hit with scotch brite. Any ideas? ![]() |

you're on the right track
i would've blasted these, possibly with low pressure glass bead or a gentle media that will sheen (non abrasive) hope you have a good clearcoat solution |
