Gauge illimination (with dimmer)

Has anyone wired up aftermarket gauges to work with the oem dimmer switch? I tried searching but got a whole lot of threads about no dash lights working because of blown dimmer switches lol.

I had my last gauges wired to the dimmer switch, everything worked fine. The dimmer switch didnt dim the aftermarket gauges but it still worked for the dash itself. It was pretty nice too cause the backlights for the gauges would go off when i turned my lights off

Are you saying to ground the gauges to red/yellow?
