Sr Evo 8?

So we were thinking of taking my evo. and installing a rb26dett tranny with the altezza center diff, and mating it to a sr20det and installing it into my evo 8
what do you guys think? Yes i am aware that the rb tranny has a different gear ratio in the front diff than the rear diff so that would need to be changed to the rb rear diff as well. I am also aware that it would take a custom or modded bell housing, custom mounts, custom wiring up the ass, driveshaft, down pipe, shift linkage, a reshaped tranny tunnel, mounts, cv joints, piping, and custom power steering lines.

Let me know what i should do?

shoot yourself haha, j/k

Um, not sure of your reasoning behind all this. Your car is already AWD and has a great engine. Altezza center diff?!?!? Anyway, I'm sure it could be done as well as I'm sure that'll we'll have flying cars one day like on the Jetsons...

(I hope your original post is just some form of internet sarcasm )

i roll my eyes at you buudweizer.. he's tlaking about nissans altezza etts system.. basically, when you drive, it feels like a rwd even though the car is awd. it proportions the power differently among the wheels.

I don't even have to think of something clever or witty. You did it for me.

It's ATESSA, not Altezza smartass.

Waste of money and time, get an STi if you are sick of the EVO already, or wait for the new EVO if it isn;t already out.

tell me this is a f%**ing joke you just spent 28k on a car to try somthing that isn't meant for that car and will take thousands in custom fabricating alone.

ya why would you ruin an evo by putting 10 year old nissan parts in it? And whoever said to get the STI.,.maybe you should listen to him. The subaru will keep you busy with repairs, so you dont have to worry about mods.

They probably said "A Toyota motor into a Toyota chassis? Shouldn't be too bad." At least they only had to worry about driveshaft length, not driveshaft plus four axles plus suspension pickups plus etc...

And they were going from a small engine bay into a big one... not the other way around.

I'm not saying it can't be done or wouldn't be cool. But you'd certainly get a lot of Mitsu hate mail.

Actually they are. My brother was considering getting one,we rode up to the subaru dealer and were talking to the salesman....He said they have kids coming in all day long ordering new engines,transmissions,differentials....etc because they die so easily when pushed. (if you are not going to drive an STI/WRX hard, wtf is the point of buying it instead of an echo? )

If subaru built an airplane, i wouldnt fly in it.. Thats some funny shit.

Anyways. Your probibly right it would prob be alot more practical to just build a kit car or somthing like a noble, ultima gtr or factory fives new super car.
While im on that subject you guys should take a look at their new super kit car.
www.factoryfive.com its the yellow car on the bottom of the cars section.
It uses a chevy corvette motor with a porsche t50 transaxel.
Pretty bad ass.

Luke

Scott: I should have your injectors by next week. give me a call.
Also There is nothing wrong with the 4g it is a great motor. I was just contimplating this idea because it has not been done before. It would be a big waste of money but who cares. As for the suggestion of getting an sti. We allready have an sti.

Sorry for the spelling of attesa i typed this out to fast. The only reason I would want to do this swap is because of the attesa system, the car would feel better because evos feel like they are fwd. I want somthing better balanced. But after looking at the tranny and then putting the car up on the lift today at the shop. It looks like there would be no way to fit it in there without cutting that part of the floor pan out and fabbing up our own trannny tunnel. That would make a huge hump in the center of the car.

Anyways, when it comes down to it, arnt most cars a big waste of money anyways? Why do we waste our money and time on somthing that is only meant to go from point a to point b?

Because we can, and its fun.
We are all car people here, trying to have a good time, with a hobby that turns into a passion, that turns into a lifestyle. So lets support eachother.

And what do you guys think about a rwd evo? 4g with a starion tranny. Ohh wait thats allready been done!

Luke

You'd spend a lot less money changing the suspension to make the car more towards your liking than changing the AWD system.

I don't know how you'd fit it. The 4G drivetrain is setup for a transverse motor, so it would be really tough packaging. I think you'd only want to go this your after you've exhausted all the Evo options with the center diff and suspension.

Unless of course you've got a lot of time and money to burn, then you are welcome to come over and convert my other 240 (Volvo) to RB driveline as a "test" project.

ok, this is how it goes... I used to work at a shop that focused MAINLY on EVO's. In stock form with an intake, full exhaust, boost controller, better fuel system, upgraded intercooler, and cams, you can easily get 400 to the wheels, if not more with the stock turbo maxxed out. Some of my old customers were even going with turbo upgrades on the EVO. But, check this out: One guy laid down 500 - 600 hp to the wheels. His only time was a low 10-second pass, but he completely screwed up the drivetrain. Meaning, needs a new transmission, driveshaft, axles, front and rear diffs, and new transfer case ( almost 10k in damage!!!) . So for those of you that want to know about the EVO, ask me. I will tell you that I drove and tuned some EVO's with anywhere from 300whp to 601whp and I still like the 240 and the Supra better anyday. And like they said before Luke, JUST BUY THE SKYLINE (and give it to me please) hehehe.
ME ( I will be opening my online store soon and it will have some good-ass prices on everything, so get ready to spend some money)

So you have a hump in the floor.. so what. Cover it with something.

An Atessa based EVO woud be badass.. Is the engine bay to short to fit the RB?

Man, just thinking about all the wiring for the atessa-ets setup hurts my brain. I think the atessa system on the g35 added 300lbs, just to put into perspective, the evo would weigh a ton more from the rb and the atessa, so instead of feeling like fwd, it might just feel sluggish.
