Exclamation Head Gasket Sealant Useage

Sup my car is basically done so i came to the last resort to use some headgasket sealant to temporarily fix the engine. I have a blownhead gasket and its my only car atm. I have about 3-4 months till i get my SR, so no time to rebuild this motor. It came down to Blue Devil & K&W , the top two repair sealants. Only thing is ive heard that blue devil supposedly clogs the coolant passages. Radiator and whatever. Does anyone know this by experienece or why it would do that and why K&W wouldnt do that. I mean price is a big difference. $60 for BD & $21 for K&W. I have a friend whos been in the industry for awhile now. & says he used Blue devil on over 30 cars and noone had any issues or complaints. Which one really works better?

I worked at oriellys for a lil over a year and sold 3 of the bws 2 of them came back with success stories. Never heard from the third. A lot of people were coming back complaining with the pellets and whatever other cheap stuff we had. Not sure if it helps but both successes were in v8s.

I am a technician in MN, if you ever use your heater you may want to bypass your heater core while you have the stop leak in it. I have personally witnessed it ruin/plug heater cores.

It's supposed to plug holes in the head gasket, of course it's going to plug up the heater core. That shit likes to plug up the coolant passages in the head and block too and make the problem worse after initially fixing it if it even does.

I've used blue devil. The $60 bottle is enough for 2 engines. Get the $30 bottle. It's the se thing, but less amount. It's NOT a permanent solution, but depending on the severity of the leak it can buy you some time.

My xterra overheated pretty bad and afterwards I had white smoke at startup and a little bit while driving. I threw BD in and the white smoke subsided for about 6 weeks. Now it's getting little wisps of white smoke every so often. Engine temp stays solid though, and no coolant in the oil or vice versa.

Hate to see people have to resort to stuff like this, but I understand. OP, whatever you do, make DAMN sure you get that SR bought & installed on schedule... so you can ditch that KA as soon as humanly possible. Maybe give it to someone for free, or tear it apart yourself to learn. GL!

Sadly, no I wouldn't. Even more sad that teachers who are supposed to teach sound practices would admit anything contrary to their students.

Yeah man thats basically my goal. Since im just starting to work this friday on the weekends only cause the rest of the week i have school. Itll take about 3-4 months of saving without spending to get that sr. & that was my plan, to take the motor out and take it apart and put it together a few times to learn.
