High Balling: worse then low balling

If you look at for sales threads here and other places, you see a lot of NO LOW BALLER messages. While I understand people do not want to get ripped off, but if you do not set a price and then get offended when somone offers a price you need to just stfu and set a price. people are not going to rape themselves and most people are going to try to get a good deal (to them) everytime, so if you hate low ballers just set a price and be done.

My 240sx got stolen april 4, 2004. I have pretty much givin up all hope on its return and started looking for a replacement car a while back. This fucking sucks because people are high balling like crazy, then when I first got my 240.

I'm looking at craigslist and i see a stock 89 coupe for 3000. I think to myself haha people can always dream or find some dumbass, but damn that is pushing it. I email the guy to find out more detials. It looks clean from the shitty pictures he posted (teal and grey two tone) So the most I have in my head for this 127,000 sohc was 2000. I ask him if the price is negtiable and hen says well siince the Hud is fried and the clutch is out, I can probably sell it for 2900 if he fixes it(good fucking luck on that) or I can sell it to you as is for 2500. 2500? god damn, I got my 92 dohc for less then that (fucking thieves!)

I know people are always going to list prices that they would probably hope to get but dont expect it, but god damn, he wants 2500 for 89 coupe with the clutch out. Best of luck to the seller.

I hear ya man. I got my 91 Hicas f/b in great shape, no rust, no dents, great paint (bar the rear bumper) and VLSD and all for $800. I bet he would've gone lower too. IT might just be the area you live in too.

^^^i know what u mean. theres a guy maybe 60 miles from me selling a 98 SE for $15,000. go on autotrader if u dont believe me. i emailed a price quote to him and offered to pay cash $7,000 give or take. he send an email and bitched at me cause he said i was ripping him off. i was like wtf

i remember when i got my 95 SE for $4,000. i miss those days

if that was a 5spd 98 SE it definitely isn't worth only 7k, no matter what the blue book value says. there were only 2000 or so 98's manufactured and far less then that were SE let alone 5spd. you're looking at a manufacturing run of a couple hundred. a clean 98 SE 5spd should fetch well over 10k nowadays. a 97 5spd could go for 7k or so.

Bluebook value for 89-93 240sx is 1-3 thousand depending on year/condition/mileage. Mofos on ebay are puttin up prices of $4,000-$6,000 with high miles, dings and dents and saying "extra rare hard to find 240sx! Collectors dream!". Thats some lame sh|t. I might as well go buy a gsr or something for my broke @ss.

thats the thing its been on there so long. like 5 months ago when he first put it on there he listed the problems with it. missing parts, scratches, and at the end he said it was so expensive was because crack cost so much.

seriously man people now a days think that there stock 240 must be gold plated or something...i remember when i bought my 96 SE with 80K for 7199...and the dude wanted 8900... and the interior was clean as clean could be...i think there was one dent in the rear quarter panel....


now i was looking on autotrader...a 95 SE 5spd with 150K 6000....and it was stock...i was like wtf?!

I been findin some good deals in the recyler lately on 240s here in los angeles.

A 91 coupe,base model in white but with 200k miles for 1200$.sad thing is I called an the lady said she planned to raise the price cause so many people were calling for it.

I ended up with a 91 se coupe with a blown motor an 177k miles for 750$ plus 100$ to tow it to get a new motor.Needs work on the door,front bumper an hood.But I picked up those 3 items already for under 100$.

Speaking of high balling,recently had my Gti up for sale at 2600$obo completely stock an somehow got 2800$ for it stock lol. :hammer:

highballing it up in the bay area. god damn...people are price gouging like crazy. i went and saw some chuuki hatch today, 170000 miles, drivers seat in two pieces, car is dirty as hell, idle lurches back and forth from 500rpm-1000RPM and the guy wants 3400!!!
