acceleration questions.

I have never driven another 240 till I got mine. I changed the blown motor in my car and did the auto to manual conversion. everything seems fine but acceleration after 5k is slow. Is this normal? I'm talking about WOT throttle too. I can't figure it out or maybe the car is suppose to be this way. any ideas?

SOHC or DOHC?

I heard SOHC will have less acceleration after 5500rpm

its a dohc. Its doesn't even accelerate fast but my previous cars were swapped hondas so maybe I'm expecting too much from it which doesn't bother that much but I'd like to know if its normal or not. I love the car no matter what, slow and slow

I have a DOHC, and I still feel some pick up after 5500, but not much. I think you are ok.

yea i know what you meant, I used to have an ls/vtec integra 3 years ago.
whenever i got the 240sx the first time, i thought it was weak cuz im used to high end rpm power.
but after a while i realized 2 important things in the 240sx, low end torque (which honda lacks), and rear wheel drive

haha tell me about it. I was like damn "i'm at 4k rpm cruising along" If I was in my honda I would barely be taking off at 4k rpm.

stock KA is decently torquey as far as 4 cylinders go

over 5000 rpms it is a bit sluggish- its not a Honda, it doesnt enjoy the redline like a VTEC engine. I replaced my factory exhaust plumbing with some thats half an inch larger around (keeping stock muffler and cat) and noticed a better high end- now it pulls strongly past 6000 rpms and only minimal loss in torque
