wastegates...

alright so now im down to the last 3 or 4 things for the ka-t. im gonna need an external 35/38mm wastegate. im shootin for a low boost spring of around 3-4 psi, as im planning on using the joe p mbc. i know most would recommend the tial, but i found a few copies for about 100-150 bucks less. a wastegate is a pretty simple thing, so i dont know how shitty the others can be. so i was just wondering if any of you guys have any experience with any of these...

dont get cheap with important parts on your car. remember what can happen if you have a improper functioning wastegate.

go with the tial. 38mm. dont get a knockoff ive heard bad things about the flappers getting stuck and you have really bad boost spikes

I went cheap on a "tial" style 35mm wastegate. The biggest waste of my time and headache. I paid like 155 bucks for my and had terrible boost spike. I got my tial 38mm for 205 bucks shipped. Goes to show you that saving 50 bucks on an important piece of the project is not worth it. Go to www.fast-turbo.com to get a good deal on the tial wastegate.

i would agree with every1 here. altough the wastegate does a simple task, it's vital. u don't want such an important piece to fail. buying cheap parts is ok, but when it comes to mechanical things - spend the extra dough...

Just a note to add to this thread. DO NOT buy the knock-off wastegates that Stone Mountain (marketed by SSAutoChrome) makes. Mine blew out the diaphram within 3 weeks, so now all I have is an expensive R2D2 looking paperweight.
