PCV valve

I live in michigan... I bought my 1990 240 from canada. I've been having a problem finding the right PCV valve for this car.

All places so far, including the dealership, have all shown me a straight PCV valve when mine is a right angle, elbow stlye valve.
I thought maybe it was because of canadian emissions being different then ours here. :: shrugs ::

I have found pictures of engines in the states that look just like mine... so I'm now confused.

I will kick myself in the face if I find out I was looking at the wrong part.

please, allow me to do it for you

okay now that that's out of the way, run a quick search and you'll find that the pcv valve is buried deeeeeep under stuff.

so do you want the pcv valve, or do you want the thing you circled?

ROFLOL...

OMG... thanks...

No... I'm looking for the PCV valve... what I circled is what I thought it was...

I'm going to the dealer to get a number of engine printouts so I know what the hell I'm looking for.

Welcome to my world of DIY car care...

The thing you circled is the valve cover breather elbow. The PCV valve is straight and screws into the intake plenum. On your picture, if you look towards the left , the intake plenum is the part that has ECCS on it. See the black tube (with about the same diameter as the tube you circled) that connects to the intake plenum? In your picture it connects to the plenum sort of behind the throttle cable...thats where the PCV valve is.

On the Dual Overhead Cam engines, easiest way to access the PCV valve is to remove the alternator, then unbolt that little square thing the PCV valve is mounted to. Once you get all that stuff off, you shouldn't have any problems swapping out the valve.

Bout the only thing that bothers me about swapping out the PCV valve is, WTF were those friggin idiot Nissan engineers thinking when they put it there??? !@#$%^...damn thing is a MAJOR PITA to change.....

Actually I did, which from memory... I thought the PCV was located in a similar location, regarding the breather valve that I circled, on the honda... but I can't even remember that any more.

I've been through
1 taurus, 1 civic, 1 cutlass and 1 cougar... now this nissan that I've just started fixing.
the FAQ on 240sx.org that I found yesterday will end up saving me a lot of headache in the future.

Thanks for the help and the pwn3d pic
