Well my friend submitted a lot of footage from local drift events to a reporter and the guy put together a really nice piece that has aired a few times on tampa news stations. Nice video. I hate the fact that they identify the 89-93 240sx directly. I know it is the most popular, I just wish he would have said "Anything small, lightweight, and RWD."

well, I think its because at every event we hold around here the list will be like this: 35 240's, 2 miata's, 2 hachi's and an rx7.

^^^^ which is one reason iam hesitant to go to an event... i know its strange, but its how i feel. that video was actually a lot less gibrone than i would have expected, good show. that is your orange 240 in there right? what wheels are those??

1) since when did drifting start about 10 years ago in japan?
2) since when is the 89-93 240sx the "car" for drifting?
3) since when does the 240sx come stock with SR and all those mods?

Dude, the red s13 in the very beginning is Hachi Bills car, bone stock KA... he has springs and a diff and is always the best and most consistent driver there.

yeah drifting is way older than that. And that dumb bitch keeps talking about how its "out of control" and no one corrects her that its actually all about control.
But that seems to pretty much fit in with the scope of the clips that they show, since 75% of that shit is of cars spinning out. Whats up with that?

Drifting started more like 10 years ago in the US. Much longer in Japan.

Ever since drifting has become so mainstream, I don't get the same taste from it as I use to. It really sucks now.
I've barred myself from various websites, people, meets, events and such to get rid of this nasty tasting NEW drift scene. Give me my hardcore performance heads with whom I use to run in the dead of night with.
FUCK body kits, FUCK stupid lights and FUCK shiny wheels! FUCK the whole FUCKED up import scene, I'm going to go drive 100 miles for no reason.

I couldnt have said it better, you took the EXACT words out of my head and spilled them online.

Seriously, its a big pain in the head to listen to coverage like that news review. Its not necessarily wrong, but damn.. how can they try to sum things up PROPERLY in a couple minutes so that IDIOTS actually understand *what* drifting is. Drifting isnt taking a stock car sliding (although its possible). Drifting is all about learning each and every aspect of not only driving, but also repairing and upgrading your car. The more you setup and tune your car, the easier it will be to control -- BUT, without the skills, you wont be able to control ANYTHING.

The coverage was great...but now car thief's will be out targeting our cars no to mention, cops will now be on our ass about our motors, drifting and street racing. Oh yeah you can’t forget about the posers who will hop on the bandwagon
