Howdy! I was looking at some 9.5" wheels for the front & rear... I was just wondering if that offset would be right. Seems like they'll end up sticking out with that deep of an offset. Please help me out!!

This represents a tire on a rim (looking at it from the tread side) , thats hooked to the axlel. The "H" represents where the rim bolts to the hub. The further the "H" is to the right, the deeper the rim is. The further the "H" is to the left, the deeper the tire will stick toward the gastank.

I doubt this would rub...but....if you change the offset too drastically, it could change the cars factory handling, probably for the worse.

Sure... but doesn't the offset also depend on the width of the wheel... because taking that the midpoint of a 8" wheel is 4" and the midpoint of a 10" wheel is 5" on the 8" wheel with a offset of +35mm would be equal to a 10" wheel with a +60mm because in order for the wheel to be flush with the fender the bolts would have to be further into the wheel... although it may just be that I don't understand how offsetting works.

you got it man! That's why wider wheels off more negative off sets. Being flush with fender you need higher offset? nah man, the stock wheels have maybe an inch into the fender. Plus for an s13, the widest you can go is probably 9's with 25 offset or something.. I want my wheels to stick out more, it would look a lot better. I probalby get 7.5 +32, and 8.5 +32 in front and back.. hopefully that'll work.

I've heard the widest you can go is 8.5 in the front w/o rubbing, so you might want to check on that. I've seen 9.5 in back on S14, but it was close. Not sure about differences in S13 vs. S14.

If you want anything wider than 9 inches, get something 15 inch thru 17 inch. Personally I like those drifter rims that are like 16x10 in rear. Those shouldnt rub the fenders, and would look sweet if slightly lowered in the rear..and used with JUN fender flares. m
