![]() I bought a '98 ka that was an auto for my '93 240sx with blown motor. On the back of the crank where the flywheel bolts up, there is a hole with some type of brass fitting in it on my old motor. The new motor has the hole but no fitting. Anyone know what this is and if I'll need it? Also my new motor didn't have an alignment peg where the bellhousing bolts up at the top. Will I need that either?

I understand that there is a different bearing/bushing or whatever the fuck it is called on the rear of an auto engine, compared to a 5-speed one... I was lucky enough to have gotten an engine that was initially 5-speed for my engine/driveline swap so this wasn't a question I had to ask exactly.

If you are getting another clutch kit, it should also include a clutch alignment tool, and if you aren't, another one shouldn't be terribly expensive.

I think he means the alignment stud for the flywheel...it's pressed into the crank.
You'll need to get a new one. - Brian

The alignment "stud" I was talking about is what would align the top part of the bellhousing on the back of the engine. Also, I think what I am looking for is the alignment stud for the crank. It's pressed into a small hole in between some of the bolt holes for the flywheel bolts. Can anyone confirm? I tried pulling them out of the other motor after applying some loosening fluid and they didn't wanna come out.

Alignment pin for the flywheel is not "necessary"...
If you don't use it, just line the flywheel up with the hole in the crank where the pin should be. - Brian
