i can't believe i stayed up 'til 2:30 in the effing morning when i had a 7:30 class this morning just so i could see everyone say that it's "too close to call" when Bush had obviously won. Since when does a 130,000 vote lead in a state where 100% of the precincts have reported not mean that you haven't won a certain state. i can't wait to see Kerry concession speech (if he ever does give one). i bet he'll cry.

i know this thread is gonna get ugly with people bashing Bush and how they all want to move to France, so before that happens, go ahead, get the fuck out. take Kerry with you...I'm sure the French would elect him.

Ok, lemme tell you all something. THE VOTES OF THE CITIZENS DO NOT COUNT!!!!! Come on. The electoral college votes. 99% of the time they go with the people, but case in point, last election. Gore won the popular vote, but Bush won the Electoral college. Who got the office? Bush. the 130,000 vote lead matters not a bit, what matters are the electoral college votes.

i'm well aware of that. i'm talking about the state of Ohio. they have 20 electoral votes...enough for Bush to win. He leads the state by (about) 130,000 votes with 100% of the precincts reporting.

even if the elector votes go for kerry in ohio, just by chance. he will still loose in the senate becouse he will have less electoral votes than bush and less popular vote. The senate will have to put bush in, but then bush's presidency with be "Illigitamate".

john edwards also said all votes must be counted, but he is not recounting in the 25 other states that are within 2% of each other. I hate to say it but Demacrates are turning into children. They are not looking at what is good for america but what they want.

the 20 electoral votes from Ohio would put either candidate over the required 270. even if they were both at 269, the House would pick the President and the Senate would pick the VP, but that's impossible at this point because that would require a tie.

HaLo - i've yet to see a political system without flaws. ours is just always in the spotlight.

thing is that nearly all of those would have to be for Kerry in order for him to win Ohio which is pretty much a statistical impossibility.

aww cmon. i didn't make this as a hateful thread. i made it because i was frusterated that it looked like Kerry was gonna do the same thing Gore did 4 years ago. i'm surprised he didn't, and i think more highly of him for that reason.

there is no more than 250,000 provisional votes in ohio, to make up for a 130,000 vote deficit, you'd have to... get 190,000 out of 250,000 votes, thats 76% of the provisional votes, mmm, yeah, if i could bet on those odds, i would.

so if bush wins ohio, he wins the electroal college AND the popular vote, as of now, there is really no flaw.

IF you want to get technical about it, the flaw lays in that John Kerry is so CLOSE in the electoral count even though he is more than 1% off in the popular votes. According to some anaylists that wasn't supposed to happen.

Why does everyone say that? When they wrote the Constitution the founding fathers wanted to make sure that all states had fair representation. While I know that is why.. The Electoral College gives disproportionate voting power to the states, favoring the smaller states with more Electoral votes per person.

Despite its intentions, the Electoral College does not encourage politicians to campaign in every state.

But keep in mind that the Senators and Congressional members were also elected by the people. The Republican majorities must represent some of the public's sentiment.
