Engine Help...!!!

Ive been having bad luck with KA engines, my first one blew and the one i have in my s14 now has a bad rattling coming from the front and some really loud knocking from the rear part toward the transmission. Do you guys know anything about knocking coming from the back of an engine. My buddy told me that it may be caused from the fact that i didn't replace a bearing on the block or somthing like that. Another one of my friends told me that my rod my be damaged.... could somone with more knowledge please provide me with further insite on my problem. Thanks!

It sounds like you have rod knock. That means the bearing between the rod and the crank is crapped out. That woud be some good down time to fix. Same thing happend to my ka from doing donuts, so I junked my motor. I bought a blown SR with 2 blown piston rings, and one shot rod bearing. I had to strip the motor and send the short block to a near by machien shop. I printed out the fsm so you could match 2 sets of numbers to located on the block and one is on the crank. It is weird. But you match the 5 # and you will get differnd sized bearing, they are labed in colors. such as 1st=blue 2nd =blue, 3rd =yellow 4rth = black. Then you have the two crank bearings. Once you figgured out the colors. The machine shop guy has to messure it .005" . This means an original yellow bearing at .008" is now worn down to a black bearing .0095 . So when you get all the numbers, you will have to order them from nissan. Mine were $148 with a manager discount. A week latter I got them, and a week latter my motor was ready to be put together. So total price if you send the machine shop guy the short block, plus the bearings, sould be around $500 and take over a month. So in short, get anouther Ka, unless you plan on building up the ka, where then you could just save up for some nice rods and pistons while your at it.
