S13 Digital Speedo repair solution
There is a well-known manual for repairing a speedometer with replacing a capacitor. But after repairing my own and several others, I discovered that in fact the problem is not in the capacitor, but in the pins with which the small additional boards are attached to the main board:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOqNdMhogJU&feature All speedometers I have seen have had this problem. The soldering on these pins just cracks over time. It would seem that you can simply renew the solder. But the problem is that the boards are made using a very strange technology with deposition of a conductive layer on a ceramic substrate. And after cracking off the spraying, there is simply nowhere to solder. After suffering with the restoration of a couple of pieces, I decided to just make the boards from scratch. Here's the result: And here are the gerber files and lists of components, with which you can order the manufacture of boards: https://drive.google.com/drive/folde...t2?usp=sharing Most of the components can be simply rearranged from the old board, but there are also spray-applied resistors. They will have to be bought new. Last edited by Simon_Ru; 03-04-2021 at 12:32 AM.. |

I had no such plans. But if it needs to, I can create a sales topic when I get the boards.
Anyone can order it yourself at jlcpcb.com or pcbway.com with the files above. |

Fck, completely forgot and didn't think that so many wanters here. Please, check your PMs. Repeat if I missed someone. Sorry for delaying!
Need to tell it again: All speedo-s that I've seen had problem with the boards. That's why you need them definitely sooner or later. But some speedo-s(about 10% from my experience) have got additional problems with power board or main cpu board. So if yours aren't working now, these boards can't completely fix it in some cases. So maybe this is a dumb question, but how do these boards get installed, do we have to unsoder the stock boards, and resoder these into the unit as the replacement?

Yes, stock boards need to be broken out at first (the most simple way). Then you need to clear holes for new pins inserting.
This is really easy for any hobbiest or electronic repair master. |
