I looked thru the Warranty manual for my stock '98 SE that's still got lots of warranty left, and noticed some vague references to 'performance modifications'. Has anyone run into problems with Nissan's warranty because of mods?

I'm still going ahead with my plans this spring, I just wanna know if I'll run into problems down the road. Would it help to get friendly with the guys at my local dealership? (but not THAT friendly, if you know what I mean)

a warranty? what the hell is that?
just joking, i've never owned a car with a warranty.
i know minor mods such as intake and exhaust don't void the warranty. turbo and nitrous will, of course. oh and the SR engine swap could possibly void the warranty

Hey, not to get off topic, but Cam, is that username a reference to popular hotrodding tv by any chance?

My username is actually a reference to my real name. It's Cam. I also try to avoid any program with 'hotrodding' in the title, so I don't know what the hell you're referring to!

I figured it was probably your name, but wasn't sure. Btw, don't be so quick to judge. Popular hotrodding tv has a hell of a lot of information. Every show they explain part of the car in detail and show performance applications of it.

Ok, you can get back on topic now, sorry for hijacking your thread

unless the part in question was directly affected by the addition of aftermarket parts........like shocks going bad early because you put springs on........the warranty should still be applicable

for instance.....if you put some new coilovers on your car, that has nothing to do with a timing chain breaking at 40k miles

Like tnord said, they have to be able to prove your mod fucked something up, and most places don't care about anything but forced induction. Suspension, body etc they generally don't care, but each dealer is different.
