SR Will Japanese Power FC work in US chassis with SR?

I saw an Apexi Power FC on eBay being sold from Tokyo. Has item number of 414-N003. I checked Apexi's website and it says that the number should be 414-N014... Also, in the eBay listing, it states that...well, see for yourself "You are viewing a used Power FC Head unit and the hand held `Commander` by A`PEXi for the S13 Body Style 180SX/Silvia equipped with the Zenki (before minor change) Red-Top SR20DET engine (91/1~94/1)." This "minor change" is what is making me hesitant to purchase. My question is...Are the Japanese and US versions of the FC the same thing? Will it work on a 93 US chassis with a red-top in it? And also, sounds like there was an older version of the current FC for this application. Does anyone know what the deal is with these ECU's? Thanks

As far as I know, chassis is irrelevant to the operation of a PFC.

What IS relevant is the engine.

The part # he gives (I haven't checked) is prolly for a redtop. The "before minor change" probably refers to the switch from Redtop S13 SR20 to Blacktop S13 SR20, which has different ECU plugs, among other things.

So it would therefore make sense that there are two different PFC's for the S13 SR20.

Again, chassis is irrelevant. Engine is what matters.

Good luck

That will work fine in your car but it is the older model of the power FC. Your better off looking for a newer model 414-N014. Also if I remember correctly, newer commanders don't work with older models. Here is the japanese site that lists all models. Models in blue are old. http://www.apexi.co.jp/pro_apexi/electronics/linup.html

Thanks guys, I'm not gonna go with this one, good price, but it is the older model for the red-top. I finally heard back from the seller. I'll just save up for a new one later on. Peace.

I have the older model of the PFC for the S14

I called apex and they said there is not a difference in the newer or older models. they use the same software and everything they said.

I dont think that the older model would be a problem at all if you decided to buy it.

I havent yet installed mine though either.
