Rear 5-Lug Made Easy on S-Chassis 240's.

Not sure if this has already been archived, but either way I'm posting it again because I didn't know until I tried.

So you finally decided to get rid of your gimpy 4-lug hubs because you couldn't find 4x114.3 Demon Cambers in negative offset. Well, no need to remove spindle from the rear control arm to swap the hubs!

1) Remove wheel.
2) Remove Caliper/Bracket.
3) Remove cotter pin/locking plate.
4) Remove axle nut.
5) Remove lower shock mounting bolt.
6) Remove Toe Rod/Spindle bolt.
7) Remove RUCA/Spindle bolt.
8) Remove Forward Link/Spindle bolt.
9) Rotate top of spindle outward toward you.
10) Rotate axle so you can access left side hub bolts and Remove.
11) Rotate axle so you can access right pair of hub bolts and Remove.
12) Pull hub from Spindle/Backing plate.
-Install is reverse of removal (duh).

I was always under the impression you had to completely pull the spindle off to swap the hubs over, i.e. remove spindle from rear lower control arm. I was incorrect, and I'm sure alot of other people have to. Lucky for us Nissan designed the stock halfshafts w/ a concave shape on 2 sides, so you can actually get to the rear hubs mounting bolts w/o removing the spindle.

With air tools, a fold out chair, 1 can of Red Bull, and a selection of music from the 50's and 60's I was finished in just under 1 hour from start to finish.

Just figured I'd pass the word on to those who might be doing it soon.

That is all.

AHHH 7 STOUT's almost killed me on x-mas, hahaha. Those scot's really love strong beer, although its bottled in like CT isn't?

But yeah, removing the the hub bolts is always the hardest part. Also, i know vastly difficult, try to torque them to spec. I took one hub after my intial install with a normal socket wrench, and a month later i have a missing hub bolt. So make sure to apply enough force the securely thread them in there. Just a procaution.

It was apparent to me after i started to hear rough noises when the car would go over speed bumps (im on KTS at full stiff with 45 sidewalls but its REALLY distinct) so watch out.

you wasted so much time
5 lug swap done easy? if you like wasting time
you don thave to pull the axle
you dont have to remove the arms
you just get the tools in there and do it
you can pull the hub off w/o removing axles, arms and such

and yes ive done it on 4 different cars that way
mine (s13 and s14), maedas and dorifto_pgs
well could count 5 because i put on and off my s13, and then on the s14..3 times...and so forth..

1) Remove wheel.
2) Remove Caliper/Bracket.
3) Remove cotter pin/locking plate.
4) Remove axle nut.
5) Remove lower shock mounting bolt.
6) remove 4 bolt holding hub in
reverse install to get it all back together.

this is all you had to do

I never said anything about removing the axles or the suspension arms.

And if you call removing the 3 bolts on the spindle which hold the suspension arms (which takes a matter of less than 1 min with an impact gun) 'wasting time' then so be it.

I think removing the arms where they bolt to the spindle makes the job easier because you have more access to the hub bolts. I never left my chair.
