Drag S13 *Video of motor startup added*
Before everyone starts popping off questions, this is a TRACK ONLY vehicle. This will not be driven on the street. A friend and I have been building this for the past 2 months now. The powerplant has not been revealed yet (we're just trying to keep people on their toes), but I assure you, it's not going to be your first guess.
The owner of the car wants to reveal as little as possible so here's all you get: ![]() ![]() Yes, that's a Ford 9" with ladder bars and drag coilovers. The wheels are 15x10 with 4.5" backspacing. The tires are 28x11.5x15. Here is the motor starting: http://www.riotdesigns.com/videos/Dr...FirstStart.wmv Last edited by riot; 07-17-2005 at 08:19 AM.. |

If this thing doesn't run 10s we'll be upset...and then make it run 10s or better.
As it stands right now, 9s are somewhat out of the question until a better cage is built. -ryan |

More information will be available when we make more progress. SO MANY projects out there get all "hyped up" and everyone has these high expectations, and then 80% of the time the project never gets finished. What we are doing is ALL custom. Countless hours of cutting/grinding/welding has already been invested, but we still have A LONG WAY TO GO. I don't even want to give an estimated completion date, JUST because there's so much to still do.
I will say that when this car is ready, it'll be like nothing you've seen before, and we're hoping to get some good sponsorship to help us get there, but being that we're a two man team...we've got a long way to go. |

I'm voting the easier route, custom mounts an a small blck 8? or a LS1 maybe? ...it has a Ford rear... but that means nothing... hmm... |

SP / PhatKA-T just did 638rwhp KA-T setup...that should get a ~2700lb car EASILY in the 9s (with traction, of course). ... As for the car pictured here...nice work. Come back with more pics and SPECS...and maybe some numbers, too. - Brian

pulling the engine to do internal work definitely does NOT count as easy in my book, if you're a good engine mechanic, more power to ya, but imho, easy things are stuff like bolt-ons, changing your rims, basic little mods... stuff that can be done in a couple hours. "then about 30psi", ya... not easy either, I have KA-T friends that are having probs getting above the teens for boost pressure before having problems. Can it be done? sure, it already has been, but I stand by the fact that it's not EASY. If it were, there would be no market for SRs. Sheesh, why are KA-T people always ready to argue about the potential? My point was that it'd be "easier" to throw in a custom 8, or some other idea, than figure out everything necessary to KA-T'it there, I never said it wasn't possible, in fact I was careful NOT to say that. Maybe it IS "easy" for you, since you clearly have experience in turboing the KA, but you're in specialized area with few experienced people doing that sort of modding, even in a forum as specific as this... unless you've already done it, I don't see how making a fully built KA-T that will run 9's is in ANY sense of the word, Easy. I'll just agree to disagree ![]() |

Oh, I assure you a KA-T will go 9s. It's been done I believe!
![]() Don't remember what he was running, but it's Duey's next KA-T project. I want to say he's in the low 10s. I could be completely wrong of course. At any rate, yall should find out soon. ![]() |

Yeah...I'm not wanting to argue potential, just saying that it would be as easy to get ~638rwhp out of a KA as it would to get ~638 out of an LS1...either way you're opening a motor, probably going with forced induction, etc...
I just took exception to the "REALLY REALLY hard" part...as it's difficult, but no more difficult than fitting an LS1 ito an S-chassis, or tube-framing the rear half!!! (...and for the record...I'm probably the KA-T guy who's the LEAST apt to argue potential...I have NO disillusions about what my motor can/cant do (versus the SR, a V8, whatever)...and when I get bored of it, I'll stuff and LS1 in my engine bay...I can promise you that! Part of the reason I have a Chevy truck with an iron-block LS1 already in it [6-liter LQ9 motor]) - Brian

f20c turbo. If I'm right, someone has to s my d.
p.s...... WEllllll since it is a drag car now, you dont really need those wheels from when it was in road race form right? If they arent sold or employed on another car allready, I wouldnt mind in helping you out make some space in the shop. I'm sure your wallet always needs more stuff so maybe we can make a deal? =)
