Before you say.."SO WHAT"!! please take a second to read this.....

Some people may already know this, but a little over a year ago I was sidelined with multiple surgeries....It was a Cancer scare that I made it thru. The recovery took a full year of mostly being in the bed and not much else. During that time I a chance to think about my life and how lucky I was to be 'Healthy'.

During my many trips to the Cancer research facility I couldnt help but notice the people that were not as lucky as me. The side effects of the treatment (as im sure you all know) causes hair loss. Young,old, black,White,Asian,Hispanic...any and everyone.

Ive gotten a lot of work over the years due to my hair, shot with great photographers and hairshows with sum of the top stylist in the US...... but I thought it would serve others better.

I had it cut to donate it to "locks of love" ( http://www.locksoflove.org ) A non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvataged kids, who have long term medical related hair loss.

I just want to encourage others to help any way that they can. It's not always about money ( or which charity you decide to support ) It could jus be an hour of your time that you donate that could change someones quality of life.

My mom recently beat breast cancer, and were it not for people like her that donate their hair for nice wigs, people going thru chemo would feel even worse about htemselves than they already do. My sister, mother, and wife have all donated to locks of love, I hope all of you will encourage your long haired friends and family to do likewise.

oh yeah, driftgirl, the hair looks MUCH better at that length than b4

props for helping restore a little bit of faith in humanity, and the kindness of strangers. you just don't see it that much anymore

yeah that was a real sweat thing to do. things like that really change ur life and help you appreciate things much more. good thing is ur doing for people that werent so lucky. this only makes u way hotter! personallity and looks. knock out combo

my niece did that when she was 6...my sister never cut her hair, just trimmed it. When she got it cut they donated it to the same people. My neice cried after it was cut though...she said "mommy, can they put it back?" It was cute, but she likes her hair now.

whats the minimum amout of hair you can donate anyway?
im overdue for a haircut for like 3 months so its pretty long.

I'm bumping this thread ( and the other forums that I posted this on) because Im almost ready to donate (hair) again next month.

and I wanted to remind everyone that there are others who arent doing as well as a lot of us. I hope that people will continue to support a cause (any cause) besides their own.

This is the time of year when a lot of people are concerned about what they are getting....and not about what they are willing to give.

It doesnt take much to make someone smile.
