How do i wire a KA24E MAF in a SR20DET?
hey, i need your help guys.
i searched, but no one ever explaid how to wire the sohc ka maf in a sr20det maf harness. i got a s13 sr20det and i am replacing the maf. what i got: the MAF harness has a thick black wire with a red stripe, a normal black wire, and a white one looks like i got a sr20det mafs installed but its bad. or so i was told. (4 pin plug - only 3 wires) the sohc maf that i found is a 3 pin plug (black/white, black, and white wires coming from the plug) i connected the maf like this: black/white to black/red, black to black, and white to white. it doesnt run very well. the car is chocking down on gas at 3500 rpms. feels like its going into the "safemode" and its not ingiting the air/fuel mixture, and it just stops going up after about 3500rpms. people told me that the wires dont connect by the color code... so here is my question... does anyone know how to wire the SOHC MAF onto a SR20DET Maf harness. ? |

I believe it is not running correctly because you cannot use a KA MAF on an SR.
They are calibrated differently. If I am wrong and people have got a KA maf to work on an SR, then I would say swap a few wires until it runs right.

i am using a ka24e MAF, and i believe i wired it in correctly. my car also hesitates/stumbles/bogs while i accelerate. in neutral i can rev the engine all the way to redline without any hesitation, its only when i drive the car that i get this stumbling randomly throughout the rev range. maybe its related to the car building boost...

yes. thats exactly my problem. in neutral the car revs up all the way, in gear, it chokes down at about 3500 or if the turbo is boosting up.
i was told that the ka24e maf wires do not connect to the sr20det harness by color. its different. thats what i am trying to figure out. well everybody knows that the ka24e mafs only can hold up to 12 psi's or boost. but i need it on my car until i install my safc and my 300zx maf |

bump for some of my guys who have this setup ~ problem is, we didn't have the wires coming off his KA24E SOHC MAFS... just the A/B/C pin spot. I wired it up like so:
KA24E -> Red Top SR20DET Harness A -> Black/White (+12V) B -> Black (GND) C -> White (Signal) I'm not positive about the function of each wire off the top of my head (might be Signal, GND, +12V, but I remember something being fishy with the colors... anyway...) All the SR swaps we do here at Milano Motorsports leave the shop with a KA24E MAFS, unless the customer wants to do fuel management right off the bat. Definitely not a bad way to go, especially 'cause I can count the number of SR20's I've seen from Japan that have MAFS' on em with one thumb...
