I have heard that some short throw shifters die after a couple weeks, and some are a PITA to install.
What do you guys have, was it a pain to get in, and how do you like it? If you don't mind.. how much and where! Thanks, Jeff

OBX Short Shifter:
Install was pretty easy, shifts definitely shorter. The pieces seperated after a while but it's nothing epoxy won't fix. Shifts "notch" into place more, and there's less wiggle when in gear. Definitely worth the price, compared to much higher priced versions.

Where does it separate? Do all of them do that? And how much shorter? The OBX's I saw said 25-45% shoter. That is a huge difference. Anyone have actual throw numbers standard vs company, say OBX or Nismo?
Thanks, Jeff

i thought it was a 33% cut in throw for the OBX/ Pilot (same thing). It seperates above the ball joint, so it's not exactly hard to get to in order to epoxy it again, all you have to do is pull the top part out, put a few drops of epoxy in, and slip it back onto the bottom half. Once it's epoxied I can't imagine it seperating without a few tons of force, though.

I'm getting one from project silvia in the next week or so. Not sure what the % is on it though. I believe it is another c's replica....not sure. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

I installed my C's short shifter about a week ago,
it was a piece of cake to install, the throws get shorter, but the best thing about it is how tight it feels!!! by the way ,it was $290.shipped jspec.com

I have obx, its definately worth the money...but I would be willing to spend the extra $$$ for B&M (even if the install is a pita..i dono for sure) for a shorter, more solid shift. My OBX separated but didn't come appart so It just rotats around on the bottom half but won't come off <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Hey there, could someone dig up the C's company web site. U.S. office if you can, I can't read a word of the Japanese one. I'm getting my small business license so I'm looking up distributors. Let me know if you want something <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/thumbs-up.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Ace has my shifter now, glad it worked out for him. good for the money (and you're lucky I replaced the bushing for you!! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='
![]() I have the B&M shifter now, Although it is noisy as hell, I love it. I'd say it is far better than most of the other shifters out there. Shifts are even shorter than the obx, and a lot tighter. The wiggling of the shifter is gone, and there is absolutely no "spongy" feeling. |

yeah i drove grants car with both the shifters in there and it is exactly what he said. apart from the vibration niose the B&M makes it is much more solid and tight than obx and the shifts are even shorter. couldnt ever tell if i was in gear or not because im used to the 1 foot throw on the stock shifter <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Yeah, I have the B&M as well. Other than the noise, which is worth it just for the feel then I would call it perfect. I would buy it again for sure.
