Fan wiring question
I am in the middle of replacing my Flexalite dual 10" setup with Altima fans. They're already trimmed and mounted but I'm having trouble with the wiring.
I've got relays and a controller (Pivot) wired in so that's no problem but I've had no success in figuring out which wires are which on the fans themselves. I know the Altima fans are two-speed units; I'd like them to run on high when they run. I've read several conflicting reports on which wires are which. Can someone tell me for certain which wires are power and which wires are ground, to run the fans on high speed? TIA |

I just wired them according to Replicant_S14's suggestion and they run fine. I'm eventually going to install a switch in the ground side to have a hi/lo option but for now I'm good to go. Thanks to all who answered my questions! |

OK.
1. I searched. Didn't find my answer. I've seen all of those writeups and they don't help me a bit. For the record, I've been running the 10" fan setup with relays and Pivot controller for months now with no trouble. I wasn't asking how to wire fans up. 2. You didn't read my question carefully, and I admit on re-reading it that I worded it poorly. So, I'll re-ask it: Which wires ON THE ALTIMA FANS are power and ground for the high speed fan setting? There are four wires sticking out of each motor, black/blue/green/yellow, and I simply need to know which are which. Thanks again. |

Note that you need to energize both pairs to use high speed setting.
Also note that each pair is separated. Apply same polarity to each one. Black/blue are ground and green/yellow are positive. To use the low speed, only apply current to one set (black- green+ or blue- yellow+) it does NOT matter. Alti fans blow quite hard at high speed, they also could drain your battery quite fast. For normal driving, the low speed is enough. |

Are you absolutely sure on the colors? I powered blue and grounded black (on another thread's advice) and the fan came on (this was just a test), but you're saying they're both ground wires.
I'm really confused here. ![]() |
