overheating problem KA
Ok, well, at first I figured it was probably just the thermastat sticking, nope, still does it. The car overheats and sits pretty high up on the temp. gauge, most of the time though if I'm able to get out on the highway or able to get up to a decent speed the temp will drop back down.
All fluids are fine, fan is working fine as well, could it be the radiator?

try flush your cooling system and replace all the fluids with new coolant/water... if everything cleans out and your car is still over heating i would look into the Fan clutch which seems to be a pretty common problem on sohcs but i see you have a dohc with the same symptoms... just something to look into

sounds like u got debris or some rust somewhere up in the radiator blocking the flow. it could also be your fan like was said about. is it a stock clutch fan?? is the shroud on ? tell us more

Jack up the front end of the car, uncap the burp hole on the top hose housing, fill the rad until fluid comes out of the burp hole, fill the reservoir, recap the rad, then run until normal operating temp. Also, check to make sure that the water pump is not leaking from the bottom hole...if it is, then replace the water pump.
After the car is driven for a little while (or the A/C has managed to set the thermostat to open), the lower rad hose should be hot. If not, then there is clogging or a bad thermostat. |
