Valve job?

Im getting my head built(cams, gears, springs, RAS, port n polish) and what I want to know is the 5 angle valve job neccessary or is just a 3 angle valve job ok? Is either one even neccessary? What are the gains and losses if any? I thought I rememeber a thread a while back saying the 5 angle valve job isnt good on the SR20 motors.

Don't beleive what you read everywhere. Unless you are puting in some undercut/oversized valves there is no point to a 5 angle valve seat grind.

Thanks alot Led Zepplin. Another other opinions on it. Im staying with stock valves so it sounds like no need for 5 angle is a 3 even neccessary with stock valves?

i used to work at an automotive machine shop and when we did a regular valve job we almost always did a three angle. 30-45-60 grind. not for performance but rather to make a better seat with the valve and have a smooth flow. then agian some shops cut corners and only do a 45 deg. grind. i personally don't think it will really make that big of a difference between a three and five angle job. if you need/want that much flow get bigger valves then get a five angle.

valve jobs are like 35 bux anyway. It's not a "better safe than sorry" scenario, but I say do it for the price and whatever gain you might get out of it.
