Thinking about getting a 240, some questions...
I own a 96 Acura Integra LS w/an AEM intake. Pretty quick, but I am desiring something quicker, and I was originally gonna turbo the teg and autocross it, but it seems like too much of a hassle, and I need reliability. I have some questions:

1)What is a decent price for a 97-98 240SX? Mileage doesn't matter...find out why:

2)Thinking of getting an SR20DET swap, too. I would love to have an S15 engine w/6 speed tranny, but how much do these run for in comparison to, say, an S13 engine/tranny? Would it be worth it?

3)Are the later model (S14's) 240's really a lot heavier than the earlier models? Do they handle much worse or anything?

4)With the SR20DET, is it true that I could get up to 300 flywheel hp with just a 3" exhaust, larger intercooler, and chip upgrade? Heard it somewhere.

5)How much psi can the SR20DET withstand on stock internals?

6)Is it better to just stay with the KA24 and turbo it, or get the SR20DET?  For some reason, the idea of a factory turboed engine seems much more secure and reliable than adding one.

7)I live in VA, in a county that doesn't have emissions checks.  If I were to get the SR20DET, when I get it inspected (not emissions), would I have any trouble?

Thanks for all the help, guys!  Glad to find a board as good as some of my old fave Honda ones!

Ok, thats a lot of questions hope this helps:

1. S14a's are going to be very expensive. I know most around WA area are about 15k. Although Im sure over on the east they would be cheaper.

2. This depends on how much modding you plan on doing to the engine. The S15 motor is a little nicer, but a lot more expensive. My reccomendation is to go with an S13 motor. The turbo can easily be upgraded to surpass the power of the S15. As for the tranny, theres some argument there. The 6spd is arguably weaker than the 5spd, and most people will reccomend the 5spd.

3. The S14 are a little heavier than the S13's. Not too much I believe something lile 96 lbs according to edmunds.com As for handling, both the S13's and 14's have great handling stock. Ive driven a few S14's and I think they tend to have a little more body role, but they're still both very nice.

4. I suppose its possible to get 300hp from just those mods, but probably with a boost controller (they might have failed to mention?).

5. I believe that the SR stock uses 7 psi. You can safely up the boost with the intercooler, and I would reccomend bigger injectors, fuel pump, and fuel pressure regulator. I would be very cautious about raising boost as to not hurt the motor.

6. This is a very oppinionated question. Its all about personal choice here. I too think its a little smarter going with a factory turbocharged engine. But Ive heard of quite a few successful turbo'd KA's.

7. This question Im not too sure about. I have sort of the same situation coming up. My car when I bought it had a salvage title. So I have to get it inspected by the state patrol, and pray they dont suspect anything when they see the red top under there. Im pretty sure they just check to see if its fit for the road, you know turn signals and headlights horn all of that.

Anyways good luck with the purchase, and let us know when you nab one.

Hey, good choice over a teg &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
1)The 97-98 models will run you from 6 grand (VERY cheap) to around 13 grand. &nbsp; The milage on an S14a would not be that high seeing that they are only a few years old.

2)SR20 would run you about 4500. &nbsp; The S13 is about 1800 to 3000. &nbsp; In engines, you get what you pay for.

3)I do not know about handling differences, but the S13 is lighter, and I have heard that they feal more sporty.

4)Hmmm, if you had the S15 Engine in, it would be close, you might need a boost controller to keep that under control though.

5)Ive heard that you can get up to 12. &nbsp;Average would be around 7-9 though.

6)KA is supposedly more reliable in the long run, but people like the SR because of large aftermarket for parts (if you dont mind making expensive phonecalls to Japn LOL) &nbsp;I believe that someone on this board or other said it was voted the best tuning engine in Japan.

7)I may be wrong, but the SR I dont think will pass visual inspections. &nbsp;I forget the reason, but you could ask someone else on the board and they could probably help you out a lot.

Good luck with the car, and if you have any questions on where to get stuff just email me or send me a private message.

The Sr can handle 300hp w/ internals and up to 450-500hp w/ upgraded internals if you get the redtop a bigger turbo is on order because 300hp is maxing it

As far as psi (we just had a thread on it) the common thinking was 12 was the max w/o having troubles and you must I repeat must cool her off between hard runs on 12 and higher
10 psi is what I plan on running when I get my controller

I'd say a brand new Walbro for $120 is a better deal.
