Alright so I have a 95 zenki S14 w/ a 150,000 KA.

Friends recently told me they've spotted some puffs of white smoke coming out of my tail pipe every so often. Puffs of white smoke almost definately means a bad head gasket. I've been taking it easy on my car, keeping it under 4,000. I already ordered a head, intake/exhaust manifold gaskets. This job is probably going to take two whole days to do in my garage.

Anyhow, I was recently browsing the net for head gasket fixes and shit when I came across this website. They're selling this product called Steel Seal. You basically pour this chemical stuff into your radiator and it'll circulate through your motor and well, seal up the parts of the head gasket that's messed up.

My questions.

Has anyone tried this stuff on their motor? Does it work?

Should I use it? I mean, I shouldn't be so lazy and just put in the two days to do a proper head gasket job. I just don't have time to take apart my motor. Plus my technical expertise is limited really, I would pretty much be doing this job by reading the FSM and reading forum posts.

Doing compression test will confirm a bad head gasket? What's the normal compression range for a 95 KA24DE?

you're just looking for the compression of all cylinders to be within 10 psi of each other when cold id say average comp is around 155

Headgasket isnt too hard do, Just replace it properly. Dont forget to buy new headbolts. www.hybridka.com

I guess when it comes to important work such as a head gasket job, short cuts shouldn't be taken. Anyhow, is it really necessary to replace the head bolts? This is the first time I'm taking it off and it's not like they go bad after a while. Or do they?

Keep in mine that stuff that is suppose to "seal" the headgasket is floating around sealing everything else too. Some things dont exactly WANT to be sealed so doing so is a good way to kill your motor. Just do it by reading the FSM

Very few viable fixes come in bottles. Superglue and liquor being the obvious exceptions.

if you ever use radiator stopleak, well most of it ends up pluged in radiator, or in your cylinder jackets around your freeze plugs, stop leak additives are bad news, especailly ones with any kind of media. my grand am radiator a couple years ago had chunks of head gasket stop leak and that is what ultimate lead to it over heating and complete destruction, that shit doesnt get any where near my 240, rather change the gasket or get a new radiator.

that stuff cant tell the differnce be tween a leak in the headgasket and your thermostat, or your radiator tubes.
