i am getting a custom SS exhaust fabed up within the next 2 weeks, is there anythign specific that i should ask for?

i am going for a 2.5 in SS cat back and installing a Random Tech cat....

basically, i was wondering if any of you had input on mufflers (i know to look for perforations rather than louvers in the pipe)

the guy at the shop was tryign to sell me on a flowmaster dual, it splits at teh beginning of the muffler...
any advantages to this (other than flow area vs clearance)?

it doesn't really seem worth it to get dual tips if they only split off at the muffler, or am i off base here?

thanks
Sean

sorry, but responses like this are purely unnecessary

i think i was asking a legitimate question as 2.25-2.5 in pipes have been shown to work well on N/A applications, and my grandeous ideas of a turbo setup were proving just too expensive, just wanted some advice

thank you for any serious replies

I too am contemplating what I want for my application. I am almost 100% sure I want to use magnaflow mufflers. I'm thinking 3" pipping from test pipe to resonator where I'll have a short 3" straight through muffler to resonate, then 3" pipping to the real muffler with a dual 3" outlet. No muffler tips, just a muffler. It should be nice and low profile without causing too much "woah look at that fart can!" comments.

3" should give nice gains in the upper range.. 2.5 better lowend response and more power across the board. 3" is better for turbo apps.

Make sure its mandral bent whatever you do.

Fast - you should be banned.

DO NOT GET FLOWMASTER

They will rob a lot of high end because they create backpressure, with their scavenging design. Hooker max-flow, dynomax, magnaflow and borla are all good choices for mufflers.
