So I don't think this made me any faster, but it really was a fun project. Not that I particularly enjoy being in ~90 degree temperatures using a heat gun and scraping goo out of my floors, but it was fun to strip the car down a bit. It was a blast driving with just the drivers seat in, felt like a race car...was pretty loud too.

Did you by any chance weigh what you removed?  I'd be curious what it's all worth.

The other thing - too late for you, but maybe for others thinking about this:  Heat guns suck (esp. in 90 deg.).  Dry ice and a scraper will to it MUCH faster and much cooler.  You just let it sit on it for a few minutes, then it comes off relatively easy.

im not flaming but why do all that to lose mabye 20 pounds??

Actually, its not really any louder. Even with everything out it wasn't THAT loud but the carpeting and seats (rear) do most of the sound insulation and those were put back in.

As my Review states, there is no point. But it was a fun project none the less...I got to spend some good quality time bonding with my car <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

I've never really worked on cars before, so taking the interior apart and seeing what was under the carpet of my big overpriced toy was pretty cool.

BTW, the sound deadening does feel like its about 15-20lbs, with the spare and everything else out I was estimating 40-50lbs weight loss.

i used to take out the spare on my old cars. now i'm paranoid. ever since my trip to the meet in KC, i've been driving around with one of the full sized wheels that came with my car, wrapped in a trash bag, in the back seat <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Even with everything out it wasn't THAT loud but the carpeting and seats (rear) do most of the sound insulation and those were put back in. As my Review states, there is no point. But it was a fun project none the less...I got to spend some good quality time bonding with my car <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> I've never really worked on cars before, so taking the interior apart and seeing what was under the carpet of my big overpriced toy was pretty cool. BTW, the sound deadening does feel like its about 15-20lbs, with the spare and everything else out I was estimating 40-50lbs weight loss. __________________

Join Date: Jul 2001 Location: St. Louis Age: 45 Posts: 2,263 Trader Rating: (0) Feedback Score: 0 reviews	i used to take out the spare on my old cars. now i'm paranoid. ever since my trip to the meet in KC, i've been driving around with one of the full sized wheels that came with my car, wrapped in a trash bag, in the back seat <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> mostly becuase i didn't want to take out my amp and subs on the highway if i got a flat. that and i didn't want to drive 55 mph for 200 miles on spare on I-70. i'll take out the full sized wheel and write a review. hehe just kiddin.
