i just started fixing mine tonight. i'm taking the bondo route, b/c i figure the chances of finding a hatch in a junkyard WITHOUT rust is rare, not to mention i'd have to paint the whole thing... not to mention buy it. a can of bondo, and all the paint and sandpaper and supplies and stuff, is only like 20 bucks. i'm hoping it turns out looking alright, as i'm not putting that POS spoiler back on ever. if it doesn't, ill just paint the whole hatch.. and if that looks bad, i'll take it to a body shop and have THEM paint it. no biggie, i'll get out for under 150 regardless. use the bondo, young one.

i tried the bondo route..... didnt work in my case. I did a bunch of research and did everything as best i could but my holes were pretty big (2inch x2inch)... Well it looked good at first unless you knew what you were looking for you couldnt even notice it. But then let me tell you that metal back there if you push on it flexes every time you go over a bump or close the hatch. And the bondo got a crack along where the metal flexes, looks like shit. well try it and if it works great. As for me, time to head to the junk yards.

I put a non-SE hatch on mine when my friend totaled his s13. It looks kind of naked without the wing though........

alright, i posted somethin like this a while back and pretty much i got two options

1. go to a junkyard, and find a hatch that didnt come with a spoiler.

2. repair

after thought i have decided to go with option 2, cause there arent many junkyards in my area, and a few other reasons. &nbsp;I considered a bondo job, but to make it that i really dont have to worry bout this rust for a while, im gonna take it to a shop to have it done right
i got a rough quote of 400 to: repair hatch rust, respray hatch, and respray a spoiler i would provide, which would be the 180sx spoiler at jspec.com, so this totals to about 700 to do it right and have a nice new spoiler.

thats my input for ya

well, to tell you the whole reason i'm going bondo... first off, it's cheap. second, i bought this car for 1500 bucks, and then spent another 620 on a new clutch. and another 7.80 on one used fuel injector. that brings me up to a total of about 2,130 spent on a '92 fastback SE fivespeed with 178,000 miles on it, running a solid, smooth-idling engine with a brand-new clutch. KBB private party value, if excellent condition, is a little under 2500, but i'll bet you that if i fix the rust and fix a few scratches on the front bumper, i could get 3 grand for it. i'd be selling it in less than a month, and it'll be months before the bondo starts to fall apart- if it does. i'm doing a nice job...
anyway, getting it professionally fixed would shoot me over the KBB, so i'm not gonna do that. i need the profit, because i just bought an '89 with a shot motor for 500 bucks. guess what i'm gonna drop in it &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
