So Im thinking I really want to travel. Im considering taking a trip to south America ideally brazil. My question is have any of you gone to another country and stayed for an extended period of time, I really want to go for like a month, but obviously paying for a hotel for a month is ridiculous. So I was wondering what you do in this situation and how much it usually costs. Also if anyone has been to brazil let me know what you thought of it

I haven't been to Brazil, but I have been to Ecuador, Colombia, Bolivia and Paraguay. South America is a great place to visit, lots of cool stuff to do and see, and the culture is great. I speak pretty good spanish, and that helps as well... but I believe they speak porteguese in Brazil correct?

I've never stayed (save once) in a hotel in any of those places either... most of the time you can find people who run small hostels out of there home, pretty much like a B&B, and they usually charge next to nothing, and sometimes even provide good company if you're plans got screwed for the day. haha

I would definitely recommend at least a small trip to the Amazon jungle, if possible. I've hiked in it, and the scenery alone is worth the trip. If you do do that, and I'm assuming it would be your first time... just make sure you be careful where you wander off to, and stick with someone with experience.

I've been to England/Ireland and Ecuador on extended trips, but in both cases they were study abroad trips in college. I'd try stopping by a student travel place like STA travel, they have lots of experience with finding cheap places for broke college students to stay.

yeah the beliefe that gays have a higher aids rate is actually a myth...they used to call it the gay mans disease in the 80's but its actually been proven that thats not true....but either way i dont plan on fucking any guys over there so im not worried about that lol....I believe, and someone can correct me on this if Im wrong but Im pretty sure they find out an aids rate of a population by randomly testing newborns and using those numbers as a sample of the population, also by how many known cases of aids there are and how many aids related deaths there are every year....I mean all in all Id watch my weiner over there but I was just making the point that the US aint so clean either lol and as for cali Ive heard stories about UCSB and other schools
