Ok, I know that hotshot headers get rid of the catalytic converter, but if I do this, will I end up having to weld my entire exhaust, or would it just be the cat welded to the headers?

well, you can just buy flanges, and weld the flanges on the cat to match the headers so they can just bolt on. I'm guessing you have an S14 right? Since hotshot headers for s13's don't get rid of the cat.

Hotshot headers DO NOT REPLACE CAT

I have them, and guess what?! The cat is still there.

Well then why do they say that it replaces the cat? Are you sure you're not thinking about that thing halfway down the exhuast on the s14?

Or do you have an s13?

I think your mistaking the resonator for a second cat. It goes header, cat, resonator, muffler.

On the s14's the O2 sensor is hooked to the cat, replace it and the computer goes down.

whoops, didn't catch the replies on this one... So the hotshot header for an s13 doesn't replace the cat? I thought they all did... Ok, so next q is... anyone know of a good high flow cat?

Ok, the S14 only has one Cat. Its directly after the header. The second Cat is actually a resonator. I had a custom dump pipe made for me for my application. The muffler shop made a fitting for the O2 sensor so it could be screwed into this pipe. I bought the Random Tech high-flow cat, and I'm very pleased with the results. It didn't make my exhaust any louder though.

My bad i didn't know what that other thing on the exhaust was but a resonator sounds right. Neway, the cat on the stock s14 bolts to the stock exhaust manifold, and the Hot Shot header does replace it. Also, I know the Cat always makes a ticking noise once the car is turned off hot and i just installed my hot shot header last week .... I have noticed there is no annoying ticking nemore :-)
The header is supposed to be a direct bolt in but i suggest taking it to a shop cause mine need some fabrication.

I have a 92 with Hotshot headers, fits fine, doesn't replace cat. still have my crappy old cat, might put on a new one, bought a highflow, but doesn't have flanges, and I don't want to cut/weld my exhaust piping to the cat.....although I'm thinking about it more and more.

anything else you want to hear? oh, feels better!

Well as someone has mentioned, you can buy flanges. Well if that's the case, I think i'll go for the hotshots then. Did you do the install yourself?

I have a 93 S13 KA24DE. Will I lose the cat if I install a S14 hotshot header? Do the resonator on S14 and S13's cat both locate at the same position?

I am thinking to buy the latest version hotshot header off a S14 putting into my 93's S13, but worry about losing the cat.

Thanks.

I believe the S13 and S14's EGR fitting location is different.... you might be able to do it by getting the S14 EGR pipe and fitting that to your S13's EGR valve.... although that may be more trouble than it's worth, considering the accessibility to it.

about the s13 trying to get an s14 header, don't. I have an s14 and i had to get 3 different headers from hotshot until the 3rd one finally fit. The 2nd one i got was an s13 header and the 2 o2 sensor locations were totally off and the ERG tube's location was off about 45 degrees. So stick w/ the s13 header 4 sure.
