![]() Alright, dropped my CA18DET in, had some driveshaft fitment issues I thought I fixed, went to take it around the block and I started getting a lot of smoke and leaking gear oil out of where the transmission/driveshaft meet up.
It shifts into gears fine and everything so I really have no idea whats up. Anyone have any idea whats wrong? |

Hmm. The tail shaft of the transmission has a seal around the inside of it. It's delicate, and can be damaged if you stab the driveshaft into the tranny wrong or at a funny angle. The smoke I'm guessing is coming from the gear oil that's leaking past the seal and being thrown onto the exhaust pipe which is right next to the tranny.
Check this stuff out and keep us updated. |
