Help me decide on fitment Zilvia

Just ordered my wheels and Im kinda torn between which tire size to go with.
Car: 89 240 fastback
Wheels: 5Zigen fn01-rc
Sizes: 17x9 +15 (F) 17x10 +12 (R)

The car will be tracked so no super extreme stretches!
I would like to hear from those who run this wheel and track there car.

IVE LOOKED THOUGHT THE WHEEL FITMENT/FLUSH THREAD, AND THE EXTREME TIRE STRETCH THREAD. IM NOT LOOKING FOR PICS, JUST OPINIONS. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO POST PICS THATS COOL. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

Discuss.

i run the same wheels slightly less agressive offset in the rear (25)

azenis rt615's

255 R
235 F

not a crazy stretch, just enough to tuck in the fenders... but unless you have a big pull in the rear or widebody or real high you are going to need more stretch

When you say "tracked" are you talking road racing, drifting, HPDE, auto-x, or what?

I'm running a 245/40 on my 17X10s on the front of my S14 and they're 'slightly' stretched. If you don't want stretched tires at all then a 235 is going to be too much of a stretch for you.

I'd run 235/40s up front and 245/40s out back if you're making decent power and are auto-xing or something.

If you're doing high speed grip stuff (ie road racing or HPDE or time attack) I'd run a 245/40 up front and a 255/40 out back at least...if not some 275/35s and widebody.

If you run anything larger then a 235 out back you will need to pull your fenders.

lol at the ppl saying a 235 is "slight" stretch on a 10" wheel.

"slight" compared to the dorifto fanboys, maybe, but that is a pretty big stretch. my 255's are stretched on my 10's.

edit: good thing rep is gone or i'd have 546867875 red blocks right now (from the dorifto fanboys of course)

I would fall into the >250 category. I would think that being 10 lower in the front I should go 10 lower on tire size.

I dont mind a decent stretch, just nothing crazy. Something good for Daily/track use.

Im drifting it. I think Ive come to the conclusion that 235 is going to be the largest size I'll be running in the back. From what Ive seen I really like the stretch it creates, I just dont know if its a good size for the track. Plus, I know I could get away with that size without having to pull. Just a very good roll will do fine. Camber is gonna be crazy I think.

The 245/40s on my 10s are fairly stretched. A 255/40 is square on a 17X9, a 275 is square on a 10.

If you're drifting do 215/45s and 235/40s no questions.

This is a giant picture, but it shows my front stretch the best:

Either way, that 17x10 +12 will need a decent pull or you're gonna be running a lot of negative camber...

235/40 all around would be my choice. 255/40 in the back if you want to go crazy.

My old S14...17x10 +12 with 8mm spacer up front to clear coilovers and 15mm in the rears.
235/40 17s up front and 245/40 17s in the rear.

Biggest pain in the ass part of running 17x10 +12 up front is that it may or may not clear your suspension. It all depends on how low your car is and what suspension you have. I had to slap 8mm spacers up front to clear MR coilovers, even then, it barely clears (inner lip sits in between the springs).

I had 18X10+24 up front and had to use a 8mm spacer to clear the coils. On hard turns, it still touched the coil. Megans, of course...

Well Im going with 225/40s (F) and 235/40s (R). Thanks to all those who gave me some input. Now just gotta decide on tire brand. Federal 595's? I think they're a pretty good tire for street/drift. Plus they're pretty good on the wallet, but I checked out citytireonline and they dont show a 225/40 size with Federals??

Only one company makes a 225/40/17. I have a pair of those and a pair of 215/45 federal tires. The federals are nearly just as wide and only like 2mm taller then the 225/40s I have.

I would recommend a 215/45/17 up front and a 235/40/17 out back. They are basically the same height so it'll look fine.

Ok, Ive done some shopping for tires and tire selection for a 225/40 is pretty slim, not saying that there are none out there, its just that the selection isnt the best compared to the size 95KA-Turbo mentioned. 215/35.

So anyone else here on Zilvia wanna give some advice?? I would greatly appreciate it!

I was exaggerating a little, haha. It isn't worth the hassle and/or high prices to track down 225/40/17s when a 215/45 is nearly the same size and MUCH cheaper.

What is the point of running a 10" if your going to go with a 235? to clear the body? I would rather pull/roll to run a wider patch.. I run 225 on my 9s up front, 275s on my 10.5s and they are very stretched. I plan on going wider with my next round of tires cause I prefer a squarer look.
