z31 Opinions. . .

My mom was looking at an '85 Z, N/A automagic, loaded, t-tops, no backseat. . . Anybody (that has owned one) with opinions on z31s? Car looks to be in good shape --very low miles (64k). She is mainly looking at it because she lives at the top of the best road in the region, and I won't let her borrow my s13 anymore :P

The transmission is a drawback, but not too big an issue with her.

I'm basically looking for z31 reviews what y'all would expect to pay (kbb says 2500 to 2800 private party, listed 3200 obo, and it's been there for several weeks).

Thankee

I owned a 85' n/a auto, main thing I would say about it was, you could pour sand in the engine and I wouldn't be surprised if it still ran Mine was VERY reliable, only major repair I needed was the tranny rebuild, so watch out for that... they like to go after 100,000+ miles. If its in perfect shape I would pay 3,000 at most, the one your moms looking at has really low miles, you could probably talk them down farther.

I had a Z31 and I had NOT a single problem with it in the 1.6yrs I owned it. I had a manual, so I dont know baout the tranny rebuild stuff, but it was a very fun reliable car.

BTW I talked abuddy into a Z31 for a beater car, its been so neglected by him, he didnt change the oil for like 15k, hes starting to get better about changing it. Last one he changed at 10k, so hes working on it. But the car starts EVERYTIME with out any problems. I dont have anything bad to say about them. Just watch for rust in a few places, check out www.z31.com for more info on Z31's.

I've noticed that many of the Z31's I see on the roads today have very negative camber? Was there a problem with the rear suspension getting lazy or something?? I've always wondered about this.

thx,

Happens to all Z31's. Its old suspension parts that cause it.
