go to frsport or phase2motortrend or like whatever store that advertise... You can get pretty much all parts to rebuild the SR..... I am not sure for KA, but I am sure someone can chime in on that....

Get a cheap re-build kit for the KA on ebay and do it yourself
you'd spend ~$500 - 600 and learn a bunch before fucking up... errr.. I mean modifying an SR |

Rebuiding the Ka in OEM specs or building it for force induction is the real question here....
Swaping in a sr20 can be had for about 3-4 grand with bolt-ons...and both setups can reliable enough for daily driving provided good tuning.

where at in cali are u located?? heres a rough estimate of wut it would cost if u parted out the rebuild parts wich is wut i usauly do when i rebuild
-chrome rings- 80 buck at WE -rod and main- bearings 100 bucks at WE -Headgasket kit- 100 buck at autozone fel pro kit -oil pump gear assembly, with front main seal-80 bucks from nissan -tensioners,- 80 a piece from nissan -head resurface and new valve seals put in-60 -get block re-honed -couple cans of parts clean, some ultra grey silicone, and assembly lube, scotch brite,2000grit sand paper, total comes out to about 550-650 in parts that are good and will last, not ebay shit. just be sure u know wut u are doing, dbl check all ur clearences, and make sure everything is nice and clean before u put it together, and lube everything up |

No not really, I have an SR and a KA S14 kouki and building the ka is pretty expensive comes out to close to the same but the ka is more expensive also depends on what turbo you will use.

to rebuild a KA Right, it will cost you about 500$ in machine work like i said this is to have it done right. I'm talking about
Do a Complete Valve Job (not just replacing seals) Clean and Pressure Test the Head Resurface head and Front Cover Align Bore the cam holes Inspect Cylinder walls for Uneven wear that they are still round if your cylinder walls are OK you can get away with a Hone. if not you gotta Bore and Hone. Inspect Crank for wear / even surface if so Micropolish the crank and new bearings if unevely worn you gotta regrind the crank and get oversized Bearings new oil pump, water pump, thermostat, etc etc. in some cases you want to get new rod bolts because sometimes they stretch but not all the time and you usually don't find that out untill you re assemble the Engine. for a proper KA24 rebuild you are looking at about 800-900 in machine work and parts. but oh so worth it. it will outrun and outlast a "lightly" built KA24 like most of the people in this thread stated. if you are intrested in a real KA24 OEM or Performance Build contact me I'll point you on the right direction |
