Damaged Downpipe-Repairable?
I blew up the flex section of this megan downpipe months ago.
My question is: Can the flex section be repaired? Or can it just be cut out with a section welded in? I ask because If I get it fixed, I will have some of the vertical section cut out and rewelded as well because it sat so damn low on my car. I have a greddy dp on it now and exhaust STILL hits everything. I'm debating having a muffler shop do this, so exhaust guru's please chime in! pics for reference: ![]() ![]() |

If your car is slapping it on the ground, there pretty much isn't any point to having a flex section in the first place.
Not unless you have it going vertical like the Powered By Max one.

I'm wondering about a flex pipe in the downpipe section too. Right now i have 3 inch piping with no flex pipe at all. My question is will scraping put pressure on the turbo or exhaust manifold and cause problems?

Also interested in this...as I blew the flex pipe too. I would rather have the flex pipe in than a straight pipe.
I was thinking of just purchasing another dp w/ a flex pipe on it. |

Exactly what I did with mine, had an ebay dowpipe and it cracked right where the flex pipe started. Just remember if you go with this to add a little more pipe to compensate for the flex. Measured and cut the exact length of pipe and now exhaust is a little short =/

I have a "xs power" down pipe. It sits way up in the frame rail and sometimes even hit the floor board on rough bumps.

Yah, looking at that shot, looks like your exhaust hangers are letting it sag lower than its supposed to. Actually, are you using the hanger that hooks up to the transmission? If you're not, thats probably why it sags.
