It's been 4 weeks taking lessons on driving a manual. I've given up. I can't get the hill thing to save my life; And I still stall on flat ground every now and then. I've decided to change my Z order and get an Auto instead. I simply don't have the patience to spend months trying to master hills and stop and go traffic. A manual simply is not to my liking (And I thought I'd love it). Will changing the order from manual or auto cause me to wait another 3 months for the car? The delivery date for the manual is mid August.

took 2 seconds to learn...a couple days to get decent at it...after the first couple months it was second nature...in casual driving, i wouldn't even remember shifting anymore. it would be "hmmm, i'm in 4th already?"

We drove garden tractors as kids from 6 to 12 years old and all manner of motorcycles with standard shift. If was only natural to drive a stick when I first started driving cars. NO learning curve except clutch let out..and that took one time only.

People who cannot master the stick in a very few trys should not be allowed to DRIVE AT ALL!!!!

Whoever was teaching that guy obviously has no idea how to make driving a manual a simple matter. I taught my sister how to drive in about 1 hour, she was a damn quick learning, but I also feel that it's also due to reading so much on driving manual and reading about the best methods on how to teach.

Before I could obtain my first manual car, I would read threads on how to correctly shift and rev match. Doing all of that for about a week in advanced sped up my learning when I actually got my hands on the car.

Yup, the numbnut should've just bought himself a family sedan with an auto. My girlfriend drove a stick just fine after the third time out with my car, now she drive me home when I'm drunk.

Goddamn, I learned on my dads e30 BMW, those are some of the crappiest 5spds to learn on. Took me to long to learn as my dad didnt want me hurting his car Later I got a z32 had it down in 2 seconds.

i learned on my dad's 70s turbo diesel truck without power steering and bad syncro. It was such a horrible experience for two days that when i got my s14 the car was like a godsend and easy as hell to drive =)

yeah, the guy doesn't deserve a stick. sports cars and sports sedans with an automatic should be laughed at. Especially people who think its race-tastic to sup up these said autos. Yeah i understand that autos are getting faster and faster every year, and maybe they'll invent one one day that drives faster than a manual, but god damn, whats the point in fun spirited driving if you don't get to shift?

sports cars should be manual but it is nice to have a fast car with an auto. that's not to say that the Z is that quick, especially with an auto, some people just like the luxury of go power when they want it and the lack of clutch in traffic.

but yes, this tard should be castrated and stripped of all physical manhood to accompany the fact that he is indeed a big pussy.

Haha, first time i drove was a few monthes ago, my friends rx 8, i had to pull out in a full parking lot, and i ended up stalling it twice, until i got a feel for the clutch, it sucked, you have to get the revs up pretty high on it, no torque at all.

yea all cars are different when it comes to manual. The toughest I would have to say to drive are porsche. Stiff as hell and the pedal is reversed. Next would be vw cause the clutch doest grab until the pedal is almost fully released.

my instructions on how to drive a stick shift from my grandfather consisted of him driving my 240Z to the middle o f no where in the country, parking on a hill putting me in the drivers seat and going "ok drive us home" i dropped him off and took the car home. been jammin gears ever since. that guys just sad. he should be shot. my 15 year old cosuin is already begging me to teach her to drive a manual.

Learned how to drive on my cousin's Ford Contour. I will admit I'm not 100% good at it because I didn't have anytime to work on the hills and stop and go traffic. But the overall experience was nice and driving stick is not hard at all. I wouldn't mind getting some info to read while my car is getting worked on.

I learned on my dads 96 f150, however it was different then the 240, I learned on the 240 in one solid day of driving.

im on driving to n from work: drinking a water bottle with my right hand and shifting/steering with my left hand. im pretty good . it works the left tricep and lower abdomen. like a sitting workout...try it.

oh we are so mean, maybe he has a really bad teacher? when my brother was teaching me how to drive a stick, i couldn't drive it well for a week, than my mom told me how to drive, it's like i got it in the first minute.

I learned in my 1973 bug. My dad drove me to this industrial place really far from my house and was like drive home. Well I did. It was fun and horribly scary all at the same time. I cant see myself driving an automatic..meh.

I went up to Denver to buy my car, test drove it (when I learned) and drove it home. That guy is soooooo sad, he should just give me the stick 350z and I'll give him a auto 240(my friends).
