240sx with no smog history record on CA dmv??

hi i am looking at this 89 240sx coupe in cali and here in cali we can type in the plate number on the dmv website and find its smog history. so i get the cars plate number from the owner and it says no smog record found. He said he smogged it 5 months ago.? So im kind of doubting it. Does anybody else have any info on this? does it fall out of the system or? it does have 2013 tags in the pic...so wtf.lol

Go to the DMV because something sounds fishy, if they say the same thing walk away.

Get the vin, and go here Vin-Check | Genius for free vin check. It will show smog records.

Don't buy a shady car that you will waste time and money on. Make sure it's legit all the way around.

good advice kevin n zero! actually i called b.a.r. and he told me the history. actually i couldve ran the vin too and found it. yeah im gonna pass. found a auto two tone im gonna pick up sat. morning. cant wait to post pics...and she has the title!!ftw. smh.lol

hey kev i picked up a 89 240sx tan two tone but its auto lol but has hud display n full pwer mirrors n sunroof!! only 156k on engine. title in hand! guess how much? lol steering wheel shakes over 65mph so guessing im gonna need to fix rack n pinion or wheel bearing? then mods until i eventually swap to 5spd.

the liciense could have been changed after registraton of the car, If the previous owner bought the car 5months ago he could have requested new plates, run the vin through here Vehicle Test History

Nice come up, I'm guessing around 1K. Where did you find this car cause all I see on craigslist are beat up hatches. I wish I knew what exactly causes the wheel to shake but if I heard how it sounded I'd be able to tell what it was.

6 bills. get this...last tue i saw my 240sx near a garage i take my cars to..and i asked who owns it?..they said a an asian girl who lives in the apt. so i left a written ragged note on her windshield..so she calls me up friday and asks if i still wanna buy it!! she was leaving the country for good on monday!!! so moral of the story it pays to leave notes on cute girls cars.lol

Steering wheel shake @ those speeds can be something as simple as wheel's not being properly balanced when tires were mounted.
