My clutch pedal has a free play of a little more than an inch. the FSM says that it's only supposed to have a little more than .10 of an inch of free play. So adjusting it is a must, but also I am wondering if I need a new MC or SC. The pedal sometimes does not fully come back up after depressing it, and when you depress it, the first 2-3 inches isn't smooth. Overall, the pedal feels too loose. How do I know my MC/SC is going bad?

They're going bad if they're leaking. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. It should never go down... if it has, then you have a leak. If you don't see a leak around the master, then it's probably the slave. The slave is more likely to fail anyway.

I know for sure there are no leaks in the MC. I don't know for sure how to diagnose the SC. From what i've said up top, do you think it possibly is the slave? also will the slave affect the free play and pedal adjustment and pedal feel? and will bleeding the system help if there's any air pockets?

if the slave goes bad it will be wet around where it is at.
bleeding may help, do you still have the stock dampner box? get rid of it and get a stainless line, lots of air can get trapped there.

I have to check for it.. i haven't gotten to the SC, but i'm pretty sure theres no leaking. yeah... i will be bleeding it soon, and yes maybe going to a stainless steel line.

dude, get a new slave, I just had to on my sr, its 25 bux, ( yah I know its gonna fail me some time but i dont have 300 or whatever it is for a nismo), but yah the new slave feels great, go grab some fish line and rout it to your master then just pump a lot and it takes like 3 minutes to bleed or less.
