Are cnc machined iron/alloy brackets for an evo 7 brembo front brake install safe ?
I wanted to ask if cnc machined brackets are safe for an evo 7 front brembo brake install on a s15 silvia.I found a cheap set from a friend who upgraded his evo with 6 pot brembos but i am afraid if they would be safe enough.
I know there are very high quality aftermarket (AlphaOmegaRacing) brackets for purchase but they are expensive ($350) and with the shipping expenses included the cost can add up to 500 dollars. I found from local cnc operators they can machine iron brackets for $200 and alloy ones for $300 give or take but would they be safe ? |

of course they are. alloy ones you mean aluminium? both are safe, anyway, as long as your engineer /mechanic is not a total moron.

Thanks aga.Yes i am talking about aluminium
Are iron and aluminium brackets of the same strength ? Is there any posibility for the aluminium ones to bend ? And is there any posibility as my s15 is a daily driver that rust in a few years affects the integrity of the iron brackets ? Sorry if my questions sound a bit stupid but after making bad decisions because i did not ask in advance at least i try to ask about the final touches for the car. |

iron would need to get some sort of rust prevention in order to not get corroded, like a rust preventive paint, or a powdercoating if you re fancy, but that will raise the cost to the level of the aluminium one. So , since the aluminium one is lighter, everything points to that.
no there's no fear of anything bending. i have had brembos with aluminum brackets on all my 3 cars, currently on the SX and both previous ones.
