Well, the time has come in which I must depart. You've all been great through the two 240's I've owned, but now since I don't have any, I feel somehow like I shouldn't be hangin' around these parts anymore. My convertible was fun, as you all know, but it just wasn't strong and enclosed enough with a Jersey winter approaching. That said, I have sold it. Actually, I sold it to a guy who asked me the URL of this place, so who knows, maybe he'll be around.

Anyway, the point is, I don't have a 240 anymore. So, uhm, ta-ta for now.

Gettin' ready to put the "Z" back in Zilvia. =)

Exactly! Don't you dare not stop by and chat with us. You still know about 240s just as much as you did when you owned one.

What are you buying now?

It's a good thing I came back when I did. Good lord, the rumors that could've flown. I did not, nor will I ever, buy the miata. I must admit, I have been swayed by the smaller convertibles though, and am very seriously considering a 2002 Toyota MR2 Spyder.

I havn't decided for certain yet, but it is the leading contender right now. Since I feel so loved, I'll definately keep you all posted. =)

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, don't ever down grade yourself... you NEVER go from a nissan to a toyota... thats just bad news.
well, if you do get a toyota, may god bless your soul, and be carefull of parts flying off at unexpected times <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> :o

See what I mean. It's so hard to look at non-Nissan cars and still hang out here. So, everyone, here's the thing. I want a convertible. I just do - I can't help myself. Now, I think I would be able to settle for a targa top or t-tops, but I would prefer a convertible. You've all heard it before. That said, the inherent problems with a convertible need to be adressed (and perhaps the 240 inparticular).

- Weight. As a general rule, convertibles are heavier than their coupe equivilent. The roof's motors, and the frame's reinforcements are the chief causes of this. Weight, as we all know, is bad, inhibiting both acceleration and handling.

- Rigidity. Even reinforced, convertibles still lack the same firmness only a roof can provide. I, however, would like to get by without a roof anyway.

- Visability. Generally, cloth tops are less clear than hardtops; windows are either fewer, smaller, or both. Sometimes, they're even made of plastic. Blech.

- Heat retention. This one should be obvious.

Ok, the 240 convertible is so much heavier than a 240 hard top that it's 0-60 time differs from 7 seconds to 10. That's disgusting. The MR2 is roofless, and still scores a 7. Speaking of the MR2, it was also designed from the ground up to be a convertible, so it's rigidity was built in - unlike the lovely and beautiful 240, which is only lovely and beautiful in coupe and fastback form. Plus, being as small as it is (I hardly ever had passengers in the back of my 240 anyway), it's naturally firmer ... not to mention how quickly the closed cabin will heat up in the winter. Also, the rear window (unlike the 240) is made out of the marvelous material we all know and love: glass.

Perhaps most importantly, I should also point this out. I can afford one. If anyone can keep everything above in mind and recommend something else, I would really like to hear your suggestions. Thanks so much. &nbsp;=)

Mr. two's are pretty cool little cars...mid-engine RWD (AJ)...and even the newer ones have alot of potential. &nbsp;I think SCC featured one a few months ago with something like 400hp. &nbsp; That's crazy in a car that size. &nbsp; It's a bit impractical with no back seat and a whole square foot of storage space, but if open air performance is all you want then I think the MR2 is a great choice. &nbsp; It beat the Miata in almost all comparison tests I've seen. &nbsp; And to IceTek, I'm pretty sure that overall Toyota is the most reliable vehicle manufacturer with Honda coming in a close second based on some study I read somewhere. &nbsp;I can't remember where I saw it, though.

This is not a suggestion, but the C5 convertible actually weighs less than the coupe or hardtop.

Sorry, but one of my roommates drives a built Corvette.
