A/C took a crap
I was leaving work to pick up lunch, drove about 30 ft, and all of a sudden "phhhssshhh", and my a/c turns off...so i turn the knob to #1, nothing. #2, nothing. #3, nothing. I click on #4, and it comes out full blast, and cold.
does anyone have any clue what the heck happened?? its a 97... thanks - Eric

More likely though the switch is fine, it's the resistor that's blown.

No, it is not a transistor. The FSM clearly labels it as a RESISTOR. It's not a relay either like mentioned above, because there is no blower fan relay in the HVAC system. Honestly, why do people continue to post pointless and incorrect information to a thread about parts that don't even exist when it's already been answered?

fan doesn't work, its definitely the resistor.
your a/c is probably still working. here's how to check. turn on the a/c. set the vents to open air and set fan to 4. now drive at 80mph. feel cold air coming out? that means your a/c is working, but your fan simply isn't blowing it out to you. the resistor everyone is talking about is under the glove compartment behind the fan blower itself. two screws hold it in. it comes in and out almost like a videogame cartridge. |
