ok, i hear this rattle @ abour 4000-5000 rpm, from INSIDE THE DASH!  i've heard that it could be the heat sheild, but i looked for it, the only heat shield i see thtat's attached to the car is that thing under the driver seat (cat?) and the rattle noise is not from under me, but INSIDE THE DASH!!! what can it be?

It could be the heat sheild on the cat itself.... S13 or S14??

ummm...mine rattled from seeminglin inside the dash as well.   I found it to be the tripmeter and clock adjusting little rod things.   They were rattling against the plastic, plexi, lexan (whatever the #### its made out of) piece.  Idunno..was worth a shot at posting, maybe it will help

s13, mine sounds like it's rattling from the center of the dash, not where the instrument panels are... any clue?

Just right of your seat, parallel with your legs? Just heat shields to prevent heat coming into the driver's cabin. It's gonna be about $5 to rip those off. You might feel some heat coming in but it's worth it.

I actually have this same problem and my friend told me just to mess with the heat shield. I just don't really know which heat shield and where exactly i should be messing with it ? this problem and my squeaky clutch pedal is driving me crazy !!
