while were on the topic...
is it safe/easy to mold the vent in a CF hood? I think it will be too weak but not sure. I was thinking just get another oem hood and just put the vent in there. had this thing forever and still waiting to get my money from the fucker that keyed my car. then i can install it =) |

I decided to do this myself
heres where Im at what do I do to mount the vent before I smooth it out with fiberglass body filler? I cant rivet it all around because they will stick out to far so do I counter sink the rivets? I dont think the sheet metal is thick enough for that. HELP!? |

3M makes an adhesive for bonding fiberglass as used on corvettes do a search on google
Do not bondo over rivets, when the hood heats up from the sun the rivets will show up as litte circles an the finish no matter how much fiberglass or bondo you put over them The thermal expansion is diffreant on the rivet, hood and scoop so it will show up sooner or later , I've had 1 hood and a set of over fenders do this[ I didn't know until it was to late that the shop did it this way] now I have to pull them off and redo it Jus use sheet metal screws to hold it in place while the adhesive dries then remove them and do your body work Hope this helps J |

my thoughts:
cut some sheetmetal into strips, and screw them to the underside of the vent to make a frame (much like a picture frame). leave an inch or so of overlap off the sides of the vent. place the vent up into the hood from underneath. weld it like you welded the rest of your car. bondo. paint. sexy hood. |
