Tranny Whine In Fifth

For the last few days Ive been having problem with a whining noise from the tranny. It only occurs in fifth so I dont think it could be from the pilot bearing could it? Also it is only during fifth and is very faint. I have not flushed the fluids in a while but why would it only come during fifth. It also increases in sound as the rpms go up. I did search but maybe for the wrong thing.

Thanks

it whines when the clutch is engaged or disengaged (clutch pressed in)? Sounds like a bearing or bearings in the tranny. Check your fluid, I bet it's low.

When idling in neutral and the clutch engaged is there a whining sound? If so, more than likely your throw out bearing.

clutch pedal down / clutch disengaged = throw out bearing
whine while driving / idling in neutral with cluch pedal up = stuff inside transmission

Yeah I notice alot of FWD cars do it. My old S13 never did it but it doesn't bother me since I hear it from other cars all the time.

im gonna go test it out to see when it does it. Could it just be from bad or low fluid? I havent changed it in a while. Im picking it up today cause I got a flat tire. Ill update later

allright im gonna change the fluid and see if that does it for the fifth gear whine which I still have. I realized the tranny whine wasnt a tranny whine but coming from the turbo when I spool up.

I searched and it said a gasket maybe? Or could my seals be going out? The turbo doesnt have any shaft play and also just has a fine mist of oil in the intake. No puddles of any kind. Still pulls hard as well.

I've got tranny whine in ALL gears now... has gotten progessively worse since my last oil change about 3k miles ago... at that time i ALSO flushed my tranny and used Redline fluid instead of the regular fluid that was originally in there...

no grinding or slippage that i'm aware of and the t/o bearing was brand new when i did my 5spd swap in october.
