help this idiot, he`s to dumb to screw some studs in
long story short,
bought arp head studs for my ca18det, but there is no instruction how to torque these. there must be some guys out there who know this stuff how much tourque should be used to screw in the bolts in the block and how much to screw down the nuts (cylindrhead), maybe stock???? there come a tube of "screw-locking" with it, should it be used on both ends of the bolts or just on one? i looked on the arp homepage,(maybe its my fault) but didnt found anything thanks |

Call ARP.
For an SR20 you hand screw in the studs (Put on the moly lubricant first) AFTER you put on the head. Then coat the nut, washer, and top of the studs with the moly lube. Torque down the nuts to I belive 65 lbs/ft. (don't quote me on that number. I just know it's NOT the same as the specs found in the FSM). Anyway, that's the procedure for studs on an SR20, call ARP, to make sure what it is for a CA. |

thanks for your info,
at least i contacted arp screw the studs in the block "hand thight only" the tourque for the nuts are 70ft lbs, but with a aluminium cylinderhead (more heat expansion than steel) it should be reduced to 65ft lbs. you must use the arp moly lube on both threads, nuts and washers. looks like the same as an sr20 thanks for your help Last edited by idiot goes sideways; 09-13-2006 at 05:45 AM.. |
