That would depend on how many miles you got on your engine right now, cuz 300hp would be about the same for both engines. |

so having 90,000 miles on the ka , i should just swap? and upgrade?
what do you think i will need to get 300 plus? by asking that , i mean what have you guys done or seen done to pull out the ponies? i could always just buy a new ka for 800 bucks, at least thats what i hear they go for |

Okay, here's a question I don't seem to get a straight answer for. I'm a relative newbie and I don't know all the details about car engines...
Normally, (not counting rotary engines, those things give massive HP for just a little displacement), the higher the engine displacement the more power the engine has, right? A 5.0 Mustang will give out more power than a 1.0 GeoMetro any day, right? Okay, so it seems to me that a 2.4 KA with a turbo should put out more power than the 1.8-2.0 SR20DET, and that the 2.4 should be able to handle more HP than the SR20DET before blowing up. But then I see a ton of people sticking SR20DET's in their cars. Is it just because that engine is designed better? -Josh |

'better' is subjective, but forced induction masks the benefits of a small increase in displacement.
The SR has various design features that are ideal for turbocharging that the KA lacks - from strengthened internals to turbo-optimized cam profiles. It also has a better flowing head and a higher redline. But there is that 20% increase in displacement... It goes both ways - It's all preference. Torque versus revs, cheap parts versus less maintenance, etc. |

i believe the KA will put out 300hp, cheaper and faster, than an SR will. but this doesn't mean the KA is better. depends on how many miles you have, if you have a SOHC or DOHC motor, and if your transmission is in good shape. in most cases, an SR swap by someone who knows what they're doing, may be the better choice.
