well, first i would start at carbon-creations.com

I also know that (i know this will sound crazy) but raceonusa.com has a section that says they will make anything/mold anything in carbon fiber, they probably cost alot, and the price might not be worth it, but they will do it

Why do you NEED to get CF Fenders? You do realize that CF fenders are just fiberglass fenders with a thin layer of CF on top, right? There is no real weight savings over buying straight FG or FRP fenders.

That Guy is right on the weight saving part of the subject. I can't blame anybody that likes the look of CF tho. Ever since iI was 12 (24 now) I've loved the look of bare CF over the look of paint. First time I saw it was an Indy Car at an airshow. Good luck. Try Raretrick.com , Drew can usually find anything. He might be on the high end of pricing though.

Indy cars are made from full CF. Trying to look cool with FG covered in CF is just stupid. It's like driving a Fiero with a Lamoughini Diablo Kit on it. Sure, some people may think it looks cool, but it's still the same piece of shit underneath.

Carbon fibre body panels save labour cost for paint

Then again you can just leave FPR alone and save painting cost

even though he probably didn't need to hear any of our opinions and just wanted to know where he could get what hes asking for it really wouldn't make a big diff especially if its not dry carbon. but good luck. post some pix if you end up getting it

You have no money, and you are looking for cf fenders...

You better start looking in the for sale section and find some oem ones.

dont take this as hostile, take it for what its worth ^^

why must you always insist on coming at people with the same angle of the "rawrrr, why would you do soemthing that doesnt save .003 lbs, rawr, it doesnt make sense because i am some harcore race car driver that grinds dd

own welds to save weight, rawwwrr"

yeah man, we know you are the captain of keeping it real, good for you, but all i see you as is a stunt on the creative growth of the group...

if the kid wants to do something different, remember two things..

1. dont be a dick

2. if he's got any will&drive at all, he probably doesnt care what negative banter you throw at him, so technically, while you mod the place to keep the "wasted bandwidth" to a minimum, you are instead.... JUST ADDING TO IT, i mean, look at the creative edge some people bring to the table (take mercer for example). ive never seen shit like his before, his style is dope, and its all his own, but so many people hate because they jsut dont get it, or they think he's a dick, eprsonally i think he's jsut getting the short end of the stick, and i would be proud to own his car

either way, let's get this back on topic, and put our ego's aside

Like i said man, there are many options outthere, if you truly want to do this, and the cost-to-result ratio is not a factor, i can help you in getting it done, i can also have someone i know do it for you, but they wont exactly be pretty, i now also remember that a kid had a set on ebay a year or so back on a car he was selling, but it would be impossible to find now,

So maybe try searching on this forum, and several of the larger forum for pics of it

I said nothing about him having to save weight. I simply said that if was getting CF to try and save weight it was virtually useless, in this case. Now that he has actually explained his case, I can understand where he might feel inclined to buy CF fenders. Thus he answered my initial question of why he NEEDS CF Fenders. Then someone else mentioned how good they thought CF looked on an Indy car, so I commented on the difference between a race car built with CF panels and cheap FG panel with a CF layer. One is fully functional, the other is just done for show. Things done just for show are pointless in my opinion, and I am allowed to say so. You also said, if he wants to be different, then let him. Fine let him be different, but you should remember something too. Being different just to be different is stupid. People who strive just to be different with their vehicles usually end up being the ugliest, most useless vehicles ever imagned. It's perfectly ok to do something with your vehicle that has been tried and proven before, because you know it works. I also never claimed to be some hardcore race car driver, nor did I come in here flaming him or calling him stupid. You seem to be making some rather large assumptions of me. I'd suggest you take a step back and read a little more closely before critisizing my posts. I speak my mind, and get tired of having to repeat myself. You also try to pull Ego in this argument, I have made no comments to attempt to "fluff" my ego. Good job attempting to call me out though. Bravo.

agree, most certainly, but isnt that how trends get started, someone does something outlandish, (its like a movie) people dont adhere to it so well at first, but after the third or 4th time seeing it they might like it, it might grow on them

im sorry to have said that, but to me you came offthat way, and yes man, i've sen plenty of your posts, i know you dont stand for BS, but isnt it also safe to say you can be very harsh at times?

i know, it must get redundant, but realize, i wasnt trying to start a full blown argguement, and further, this isnt the first time soemones had to say "practice what you preach and dont waste bandwidth" to a mod on here

im not egotystical at all, now... THERE YOU GO making epic assumptions,

listen man, i respect you, i love what you do for the community,

i simply said, you stunt the creative growth ofthe community, NOW, if you think that my statement was too bold or epic, then maybe you should look towards yourself (or your posts) for a solution and not to the messenger

please let this go back on topic, we both swollowed our pride, lets move on

You guys need a moment alone to blow each other?

To the original poster, your idea is stupid. If you've dinged your fenders, fix them. Simple. Replacing them to save the hassle of repair is retarded, what happens when something else gets dinged? Do you plan on going to a full CF shell eventually? It's one thing to switch to a CF fender for a conversion, wider wheels, different design, etc. but to switch simply because you can't afford to repaint the OE fenders is sad. That's like saying you can't afford to change your oil so you're just going to swap a lower mileage engine in the car.

my opinion on this matter is that, weight savings aside, a painted car with unpainted fenders would look like 50 asses at an ass parade.

the fact that its "omg carbon fiber" dosent change the fact that half of your car has paint and half of it dosent. remember that s15 face s14 that was like carbon fiber everything except the doors and the roof were bright blue? what a barf storm.

byhi, I'm not completely sure how to take you comments. You seem to be attacking my methods, yet kissing my ass at the same time. Strange.

Russ, I got something you can blow.

Mercer, I rememer the car you are talking about, and I couldn't agree more.

This thread has run its course, and I'm not sure how it was even a Tech Question to begin with. This is over.
