If I were to design my very own car, this would be damn close.

Im not one for roadster either but with a V-10, 2700lbs, Race Suspension, 335 Rubber, 8 Piston Brakes, and a 8200 redline, then would you really care?

It would be cool to see this car as a hard top though.

60 more hp nad 100 more tq... no to mention almost 1,000 pounds lighter... yeah, it'd be "faster than the new dodge viper". This is, no offence, somewhat old news; I saw the car at the LA auto show two years back (2001)... and it's sexier in person.

wow i cant believe everyone thinks this car looks good. Usually theres always a few ppl that disagree... But I'm not of of them in this case, looks like Porsche disigners got a winner on thier hands. I love the 101hp/L and the 8!!!! piston calipers. I wonder what kind of turbo/supercharge setups you could do with that? But then again who would have the balls to mod a Porsche! Thats like saying that God is wrong!

Well...RUF has the balls to mod Porsches, and they do a damn good job of it too.

But, yeah, I've seen pictures of the car for the past couple of years, but never performance specs, oh my god, that is even better than I had imagined!!!

Are the forums unbearably slow tonight or is it just me (could be my cable acting up but everything else seems to be going just fine)?

This forum was acting kinda slow.

I think this car is hella nice, I've always loved Porsches. I wonder if I will ever see this car in person.

Would you guys compare this car to the Ferrari F60?

never really been a big fan of the GT project. maybe its the V10. i think the prospect of the 10 cylinder motor sounded better when it was slated to power porsche's now defunct IMSA/LeMans car, but now, its just kinda blech. for me, porsche means a rear mounted flat 6, preferably turbo(s), teardrop styling, and the type of power that puts hair on boys' chests.

I agree that it looks like the MR2 spider. Thats the first thing that came to mind...but after seeing those specs, who gives a shit what it looks like. If a geo prizim had a 10 cyl engine, 8 piston calipers, and do the 0-100 in about 10 secs, Id drive one

It's a beautiful car, but loses the trademark of a Porsche.
Still, beautiful regargless, much better than the F60 IMHO..
But then again, this is all talk, we can make complaints when we can afford to own one.

I agree with Grant on this one. I never liked the car from the start; I like the performance, don't get me wrong, but I don't think a V10 fits the Porsche heritage. They should have just dropped the 911 Turbo engine in it to keep the cost down, as that engine is capable of 550+ hp and 600+ tq fairly easily. Also, much like the Cayenne, I don't think it pays tribute to older Porsches and thus doesn't have enough design elements to make it distinctively a Porsche like the Boxster and the 996. Everyone will still know it is a Porsche, but I think it should have at least had headlights similar to the 911 Turbo. I also don't like the broken lines on the side of the car, as they definately are not Porsche-esque. I am disappointed overall because the 911 Turbo is my favorite car (even moreso than the overpriced GT2). For the money I would rather have a silver Techart Turbo ($30k for 550 hp/tq, full bodykit/interior, etc).

well.... your putting a 5spd in a convertible, thats not paying tribute to nissan because they never did that. see what i mean? porsche has made 2 vehicles that aren't like they're predescors, they still have the 996 911, and the Boxster. keep in mind that porsche did use 8, 10, and 12 cylinder engines for their racing cars.

hell if Ducati is allowed to break from their long long long long tradition of V-Twin motorcycles, then Porsche can definitely make that beast of a car. Like Loren said (yes I'm agreeing w/ him) they have made V10's in the past.
