Hows this s14 for my first car?
Looking into this s14, ima check it out when I go down to pines in a few days...
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nissa...60745595QQrdZ1 Anything I should keep in mind when I go see it? Does the salvage title really matter if it was professionally repaired? Any helpful comments welcome... Oh and before the 'its too much power for you to handle' comments come flying in understand that im stubborn as hell ![]() |

I say man if thats what you want go for it you were probably plaining on doing a swap anyways (dont get my wrong the KA it a great engine) but i would get use to the car before i did anything to big with it. Also decide if you want to build a car your way or if you like it the way it either way if thats what you want go for it. Also as long as the frame is straight i wouldnt worry to much about the salvage title but thats just mean you'll get some different opions on it.

Id say its a great find. Definately lucked out finding one somewhat local.
I would however be concerned about the price. 7600 and still no reserve met?, i would expect it better be met soon! Oh, and would this be your first car? or first S14? Your profile states age 21. First car usually implies noob 16yr old - and yeah, 16 + Boost = recipe for disaster! |

My advise to you is buy a nice stock car, then mod it yourself and that way you actually learn about your car versus just saying "yea, i bought an s14 with an rb in it, but i know fuckall about the car or what's been done to it". On top of that, working on your own car is veryyyy statifying.

no. dont buy a stock s chassis. there are already enough fucked up high school kid budget 240s rolling around. ppl need to stop trashing them out. buy a v6 camaro kid.

This car is definately not for you. Buy a stock car FR platform, learn how to work on them, and drive them. Then you can get a 240 and mod it to your style. If something goes wrong with this you won't know what the hell to do, and shops won't either. Some tuner shops will, but they see a kid with a car that he knows nothing about and rape you on prices.

hmmm P-cola? Are you in A-school or an instructor??? JK JK. IF it is your first car, get a stock one. Learn the car and learn to work on it. You buy a car pre-built and something happens you have no clue where to start. Just my thought on the matter....

Most likely it IS too much power for you to handle. Most people have a hard enough time dealing with a stock s-chassis. Purchasing a swapped/modded one will only cause more of a headache. I can almost assure you the reason he swapped over to kouki front is because of a crash. Then the car was salvaged because of such. That color is horrendous. Who's going to smog it for you? As stated in the prior post, just purchase a stock car.

My first car was a 5.0L mustang and seemingly everyday I would read about some kid wrapping his around a pole because he mashed the gas ripping around a corner.
It looks to me like someone is ditching their project before finishing for a reason, I wouldn't touch it. |

noone is saying for sure you will wreck it.. its just ALOT of car even with a stock rb25.. and the temptation to drift and you dont really have alot of road hours its a good chance you can get into an accident with that car.. its probably to much car for half the people on here lol so dont take offense. i started with a 76 toyota corolla and after 2 months i got a 5.0 mustang and my 2nd day with it i wrecked on an on ramp because i liked the power and i thought i was superman and i spun it on a damp onramp and ate shit. it wasnt because i was stupid or just a bad driver in general i just didint know anybetter.

i agree with all the people on here. buy a stock car and learn it im 16 and bought a stock s13. i wouldeve liked to buy a rb or sr or ka-t for my 1st car but thats alot of power. take a stock s13 and get on it real good in the rain and watch it get sideways. what the stock car does in the rain that rb or sr or ka-t will do on dry roads. so yeah id get a stock one dont RICE it out like so many young kids do nothing is worse than a 240 with stock rims body kit and big spoiler.

I don't like buying built cars because it might run great tommorrow, next week, next month... but then if some half a**ed solder or wire or anything comes loose and it stops running you're sca sca screwed. And try explaining that it's a Japanese motor to the local mechanic when there is no FSM.
RB series are some of the best engines built imo but they aren't for the shoestring budget. The longterm maintenance (i.e. sourcing parts for an engine never made in our country) could kill your fun in the long run... Although, d**m I want one!! Good luck |

if you decide to get it, keep a budget for parts you may need. also make sure you have another RELIABLE source of transportation. if your RB needs a part, or fixing. downtime is ALWAYS annoying. its not so much installing/fixing the problemed area that takes alot of time. its finding the part you need, and waiting for it to ship. good luck.
